Western Nebraska is obviously more rural than the east and these smaller school sides lead to more players playing both sides of the ball. Just doing that is impressive but what these guys do on both sides of the football. These kids work very hard and their performance shows the work and effort they put in. Defense itself is huge in this sport and Rural Nebraska is the home to some of the strongest and biggest players in football.
MLB Tristan R. Kuehler Pierce Class of 2023
Tristan played a great season last year and was one of the main leaders on the Bluejays defense. he had 35 solo tackles and an amazing 122 tackle assists. Wow that is crazy it is one of the highest amounts that I have ever seen This makes Tristan have 157 total tackles and 5 tackles for lass. Averaging 12 tackles a game and one sack. In the State championship Tristan Went off with 16 total tackles 7 of those solo 8 assists and 1TFL. He will be one of the best linebackers this fall and I can’t wait to see how he impacts the Bluejays defense.
Kolten Tilford Kolten Tilford 5'9" | 165 lbs | ATH North Platte | 2023 State NE North Platte Class of 2023
Kolten plays both sides of the ball however his defensive stats is what I noticed first. Last season he had 106 total tackles out of those tackles he had a total of 41 solo and 65 assists. Along with his tackling stat Tilford had 2 interceptions and a blocked PAT. Kolten does very well on offense but shows he can excel on both sides of the ball. North Platte may not be as small as these other towns but the population difference from their Omaha and Lincoln counterparts make it harder to fill an entire roster plus backups. Kolten is a perfect definition of a dual purpose and dual threat player and I cant wait to see what the Bulldogs have instore for him this fall.
Cade Kirwan Holdrege Class of 2023
Kirwan is a stud, this last season he had a total of 103 tackles having 74 tackle assists and 29 solo tackles. He also had one sack and caused one fumble. The reason I have him on here is the amount of tackles he has helped with. You don’t get that many assists if you’re not going to the ball right away and playing exactly how the coaches want.
Kason Loomis Kason Loomis 6'2" | 170 lbs | RB Bridgeport | 2023 State NE Bridgeport Class of 2023
Another Defensive and offensive player and even though this is about defense Kason has a whopping 1,000 rushing yards and 13 TDs. Not only does he have those amazing stats Kason had 97 tackles last season and 6 TFL. 48 solo and 49 Assisted tackles. Plus a sack, fumble recovery and an interception. Loomis will definitely be a leader this next season and I’m going to be very excited to see what he’ll do next.
Braden Rutt St. Cecilia Class of 2023
Rutt is the definition of a middle linebacker, last season he had 90 tackles with 12TFL he had 55 assists and 35 solo tackles in the season. Braden also caused 2.5 sacks. After watching some of his footage You can see how he goes after the ball wrapping up and taking down anyone in his way.
Caleb Kinkaid Caleb Kinkaid 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL North Platte | 2023 State NE North Platte Class of 2023
Caleb is a very great defensive end, last season he had 77 total tackles 51 assists and 26 solo tackles. Along with that he had 11 tackles for loss. 8 of his tackles for losses were sacks along with him causing 3 hurries. Caleb is one of the best pass rushers in western Nebraska and I think he is going to really pop up on some college radars going into the 2022 season.
