Their are a lot of underclassmen who are looking to shine and earn their spot on a varsity team in the future. These young men have shown the talent and potential needed in order to shine on the gridiron at the freshman level. With training, dedication, and vision, some of these young prospects will be able to thrive in the future and become a weapon for their team. Even though they may not be the biggest or strongest currently in their young careers, do not over look them! Without further due, let's dive in and unpack some of the best underclassmen in the city of San Antonio, Texas. Demarcus Smith- 6'0 180Ibs/MLB/ Cibolo Steele High School Analysis: Demarcus Smith is a very good linebacker for a freshman. He already has the build of a varsity linebacker His play on the gridiron is superb as well. Smith is a physical hard hitting backer and is one of the best tacklers that I have seen. This young man can also shed blocks and stay in his gap, even when the play begins to break up. Smith also has decent closing speed when pursuing ball carriers. He is also a player that can make good tackles on special teams. I see him becoming a very dangerous weapon in the future! Jalen Cooper- 6'0 150Ibs/WR/ Cibolo Steele High School Analysis: Jalen Cooper is a prospect that you will need to keep an eye on going forward when it comes to the freshman class. With more speed training, cooper will become more explosive as well. He has really good hands, and makes sure he finds a way to get open. You can use him outside the numbers because of his length and height! Cooper can improve on his quickness when it comes to his cuts and stopping on a dime in his routes. Despite that, he is still a decent route runner that will only become crispy if he keeps it up! Finally, he can also make plays in the slot position as well and will block for any ball carrier laying the wood on linebackers in the way. Keep your eye on him at Cibolo Steele High School the next three years! Caleb Cappuccio- 5'10 155Ibs/QB/ Ronald Reagan High School Analysis: Caleb Cappuccio is an extremely talented quarterback and one of the best out of the freshman class. Cappuccio has shown composure and patience in the pocket by rolling out and keeping his eyes down field while delivering beautiful throws. He has a pretty powerful arm too. His accuracy is decent , but can still improve. This young man can also be a play maker in the kick return game due to his decent speed, acceleration, and vision on the field! I think he will be extraordinary quarterback in the next three years at Ronald Reagan High School. Ty Hawkins- 6'0 175Ibs/QB,WR/ Johnson High School Analysis: Ty Hawkins is a remarkable receiver! Hawkins has soft hands and does a excellent job at adjusting to the ball on the dime! This young man has wonderful jump ball skills as well, out jumping defenders in crucial moments! Hawkins is a really good route runner and will only get better. He has impressive run after the catch ability too. When he is playing the quarterback position, Hawkins has shown that he has the footwork and accuracy to make beautiful throws down field when needed. Look for him to have an outstanding career in the future! Clayton Namken- 6'0 180Ibs/QB/ New Braunfels High School Analysis: Clayton Namken is a talented dual threat quarterback that can become a super star in the future. He has the arm power and accuracy to compete at a high level. Namken can also use his legs to stab the defense in the gut due to his keen ability to find open holes and gain extra yards when the pocket collapses. He can also deliver dimes and throw the ball in tight corners and spaces accurately which is not an easy thing to do! The sky is the limit for this kid, and I see him having an outstanding career in the future!
