Continue ReadingThe state of NC has plenty of underrated prospects as it is, but particularly, when breaking down their film, it has become evident that there are plenty of gems at the RB position that are trending upwards within the 2024 class, and who will more than likely see some more attention, especially within the recruiting game, as the season comes around. Because each of these players are 2024 prospects, it is no surprise that they have not gotten the attention they deserve yet, but don’t be surprised if they begin to blow up this upcoming season. Take some time to check them out, and you’ll see why as well.
Cuttler Adams- Robbinsville
It is a no brainer that Adams has made our list, especially due to the fact that he rushed for over 2,500 yards last season. In total, he finished the year with around 31 TD’s, and this is a direct result of his downhill, powerful running style that easily plows over opposing layers. While he can be a tad stiff at times, he runs hard enough, and with good enough short area quickness to gain great yards every time he touches the ball. While his feet may be a tad sloppy, we think that his burst and vision makes up for this. If he can improve upon this next season, we have no doubt that he will be one of the better backs in the state by the time he graduates.
Christian McNeely- Smoky Mountain
As you watch McNeely play, it is evident that he plays a shifty style of football at the RB position that easily allows him to make plays with good balance, and vision. He is able to pick up decent yards due to this, and he allows the strength in his legs to do the rest as he runs through tackles, punishing defenders as the game progresses. Going into next year, we see his stock continuing to trend upwards, especially if he can work on his overall movement skills, and footwork.
Will Jones Will Jones 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Hough | 2024 State NC – Cabarrus
There’s plenty of reasons why Jones has been a successful, “All Conference” player, and it largely starts with his twitchy running style. His ability to change direction can appear to be silky smooth, as he has no problem getting in and out of his breaks, and changing direction in an instant. This helps him to keep defenders on their toes, and helps him to shake even more tackles than you would expect. In addition to this, we also love the way that Jones runs at a good pad level, allowing his burst, and balance to take him to the next level of the field, and even put points on the board. Expect him to receive plenty of attention this year if he can play with a high level of consistency.
Anthony Quinn- Seventy-First
Last season, Quinn gave NC High School football fans a taste of what they can look forward to in the future when he totes the rock. With the ball in his hands, he has an explosive ability to run through tackles, and run with good balance. Even with this explosive ability, he still remains light on his feet, running with a shifty style, sifting through the different levels of the field, and using his vision to explode through the offensive line. Because of this ability, the results last year were incredible, as he managed to accumulate over 30 TD’s, consistently putting opposing defenses on notice. Next season, look for Quinn to take a step forward in his game, and to see offers that reflect this as well.
BJ Brown BJ Brown 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Lee County | 2024 State NC – Lee County
BJ Brown BJ Brown 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Lee County | 2024 State NC has the potential to be the best player on this list, and we have no doubt that his stock is trending upwards as the 2022 season approaches. He plays the game of football with great feet, and the twitch that he displays with the ball in his hands is immaculate. This very twitch allows him to change direction on a dime, making it extremely hard for defensive players to fully wrap up on him, and bring him to the ground. Brown also does a great job of finishing runs, spinning off of tackles, and maintaining good balance all the way through. Added to this is his overall speed, and burst, which only takes his talents over the top, exciting us even more to see his potential as he continues on in his high school career, and looks to potentially play at the next level.
