The offseason is always a busy time of year off the field for Prep RedZone Arkansas prospects. The class of 2024 is a talented one and it is deep in terms of the talent being produced. We are going to look at the prospects that have performed well in offseason programs and in performance camps over the past few months. Several of the prospects that are listed in this article have the potential to have strong seasons in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="157343" first="Cameron" last="Vanzant"]-Quarterback-Farmington-6’2” 175-Pounds
The Farmington quarterback had a fantastic 2021 football season. The Cardinals were impressive all of 2021 and made a playoff appearance in the process. Vanzant has a strong arm and is extremely accurate with the football. He shows a willingness to escape the pocket and pick up yardage with his legs. Vanzant has good command of the pocket, and he knows when to get rid of the football. Over the next two season, he is a prospect to keep an eye out for at the quarterback position.
[player_tooltip player_id="153886" first="Charleston" last="Collins"]-Defensive Line-Pine Bluff-6’4” 240-Pounds
Pine Bluff has a tradition of producing talented football players. [player_tooltip player_id="153886" first="Charleston" last="Collins"] is a defensive lineman that fits that description perfectly. Collins is extremely quick getting into the opposing offensive backfield. He has a good mix of speed and power which has earned him a scholarship off from Arkansas State University. Collins does an impressive job of rushing the passer and is a defensive lineman that can terrorize the opponent’s rushing attack.
[player_tooltip player_id="149602" first="Shawn" last="Rycraw"]-Athlete-Bryant-5’11” 170-Pounds
Rycraw’s versatility is going to cause nightmares for opposing defensive units. He is a crisp route runner that is dangerous with the football in his hands. Rycraw is talented enough to be used as a running back as well. He is a prospect that has the speed to help open up the passing game for an already loaded Bryant offense. Rycraw is a prospect that has earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas Baptist and I would expect to see him earn some more scholarships over the next few months.
[player_tooltip player_id="156795" first="Colin" last="Jones"]-Defensive Line-Rogers-6’3” 250-Pounds
The Rogers defensive end has the size to cause problems for opposing quarterbacks. Jones shows impressive strength and can play multiple positions along the defensive line. He shows a good burst in getting out of the stance into the opposing offensive lineman. Jones is a prospect with the potential to have an impressive season on the defensive line. I expect him to play all along the defensive front. Jones should cause plenty of headaches for opposing quarterbacks in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="149606" first="Chandler" last="Laurent"]-Linebacker-Pine Bluff-5’7” 185-Pounds
One of the most intriguing prospects in the class of 2024 is [player_tooltip player_id="149606" first="Chandler" last="Laurent"]. The young man has an extremely high motor and is all over the field for the Zebras. Laurent is an intelligent player that is rarely caught out of position. He has the quickness to be difficult for opposing offensive linemen to account for during a game. I expect Laurent to have a strong season for the Zebras. Pine Bluff has the potential to be an impressive team that should challenge for a playoff run.
[player_tooltip player_id="172599" first="Conner" last="Willis"]-Quarterback-Barton-6’3” 210-Pounds
Willis is one of the best quarterbacks in the state throwing on the run. He does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down the field and making the throw. Willis has impressive arm strength and can fit the ball into some tight windows. The Barton quarterback is not afraid to use his legs to pick up yardage on the ground. Willis is one quarterback I expect to have an explosive season in 2022. Keep an eye on Willis, he has the potential to light up Friday nights.
