Spring ball is getting rolling here soon and we are continuing to get through dozens of prospect tape submissions from last season. Below are five of the guys we discovered this past session who stood out and will be included in our next rankings update!
Austin Acton Austin Acton 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Lamar | 2023 State MS | 2023 ATH | Lamar
Listed at 6’0″ 185 with good frame to play at the next level. Primarily playing running back this past season, but has the size and athleticism to project as a defensive back or wide receiver as well. Quick footed and fast in the open field; shows the ability to outrun defenders regardless of the angle taken. Although he has a more slender frame, Acton shows good contact balance through arm tackles and the ability to stay on his feet. Natural hands out of the backfield. As a defender, his ball skills are very evident and translate well. Really talented player that looks ready for a big senior campaign. Should draw college interest soon.
Eric Moore Jr Eric Moore Jr 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Ocean Spring | 2024 State MS | 2024 LB | Ocean Springs
Listed at 6’2″ 210 with great length in his arms. WILL style backer who does a great job at reading and reacting to his keys and making a play. Does a good job at engaging with offensive linemen and using his length to get off blocks. Downhill thumper who tackles well with good form. Can create big hits when left unblocked. Runs well in the open field and has the athleticism to cover in breaking routes and tight ends. Flashes the ability to generate pressure on the quarterback on designed blitzes using his speed and physicality. Intriguing linebacker with the size and athleticism that college coaches love to see. High potential to breakout as a junior prospect.
Fulton Ascherl Fulton Ascherl 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Saint Stanislaus | 2023 State MS | 2023 OL | Saint Stanislaus
Listed at 6’4″ 270 and already looks the part of a college level guard prospect. Spent most his time last season at right tackle, but projects as an interior player at the next level. Mean, nasty, and tenacious blocker. Finishes every block through the whistle or until his man ends up in the dirt. Active and quick footwork in pass protection with a strong first punch. Bends well and did a great job at mirroring all edge defenders he played against last season. Powerful run blocker who shows the athleticism to pull and change direction well in space. Does a great job at staying low and maintaining his leverage during blocks. Talented offensive lineman who will be included in our next rankings update. Lists an offer from Pearl River.
Jermell Chaney Jermell Chaney 6'2" | 230 lbs | LB Collins | 2024 State MS | 2024 LB | Collins
Listed at 6’3″ 215 with plenty of length to go with his height. Athletic inside backer who could project even better as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. Runs well in the open field and has little stiffness to his movement. Has a motor that runs hot; chases the ball carrier down even when the play is going opposite of him. Good tackler in the open field who uses his length to win. Wraps up and brings the ball carrier to the ground. Not much of a thumper yet, but still has plenty of time to continue developing in the weight room. Shows the athleticism to run with receivers and tight ends downfield, as well as be a viable option as a blitzer. First year starting was impressive and looking forward to the next two seasons from this guy. Can be a special player in due time.
Silas Corder Silas Corder 6'1" | 210 lbs | QB Pascagoula | 2025 State MS | 2025 QB | Pascagoula
Listed 6’0″ 190 as a freshmen. At first glance, this is not your typical freshman quarterback tape. Played varsity time last season and flashed in a big way. Smooth drop back and composure in the pocket. Not afraid to take on a hit while delivering a strike downfield. Quick release; ball pops out of his hand seamlessly. Powerful thrower who can thread the needle on hard to complete routes. Does a great job at hitting his receivers in stride and with timing. Shows the ability to throw accurately at all levels of the field, but his deep route concept accuracy stands out most. Although he isn’t a running threat, has enough athleticism to extend plays outside of the pocket. Corder is a rising star in the making if he continues to build off his freshman campaign. One of the top 2025 QBs we have watched so far.
