Of course you Prep Redzone subscribers are probably wondering what some of those All-Camp prospects to impress us on the turf and you are about to find out exactly why, as we launch our 10 Gunslingers that stood out from last Saturday at Park Center. Plenty of these I mentioned on our All-Camp Team, but there were some that were just left off that impressed us as well. Find out all about the QBs that caught the eyes of Prep Redzone Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.
Jacob Kilzer Jacob Kilzer 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Maple Grove | 2023 State MN | QB | Maple Grove | 2023
What couldn’t Jacob do on Saturday? The #1 QB prospect in 2023 showed off so many skillsets with his feet (4.53 on the 40) and with his arm talent. He showed off some touchy teardrops that not only showed off his excellent accuracy, but an excellent football IQ of understanding the right throw for the given route he was throwing. He certainly impressed me most with his deep ball, as his arm strength really showed out when it came full circle in 1v1 reps. Grind the tape a little bit, and you find a fearless QB prospect in the pocket one that can sneak out with his 4.5 speed (also logged 14 rushing TDs as a junior) and still keep the same completive balance in his throws out of the pocket. If there was one prospect from the entire camp that was an EXTREME stockriser when it comes to showing off he’s a D1 college prospect it was this young man. The athleticism Jacob has certainly showed up big time in Brooklyn Park
Grant Loge Grant Loge 6'5" | 185 lbs | QB Pequot Lakes | 2023 State MN | QB | Pequot Lakes | 2023
Grant showed off an effective quick release from the reps I got to watch from him on Saturday at the Park Center Dome. He showed off a solid touch ball from his intermediate routes from what I got to watch and made second team on our All-Camp Team from this weekend. On tape, Grant shows a QB prospect that just fire pops, and knows exactly where he wants to take the football. He has room for development, as I would love to see him tap in on deeper routes and utilize his vision better to see if other opportunities might be open. Also, would love to see him develop more fluidity in his throwing motion as we look towards the 2022 season. Excellent measurables at 6’5 that a college football program could certainly develop.
Luke Emmerich Luke Emmerich 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Monticello | 2025 State MN | QB | Monticello | 2025
The #1 QB in 2025 was also in attendance at the Prep Redzone Minnesota showcase on Saturday. Luke was one of very few 2025 prospects to crack a first-team on our All-Camp Team, which certainly says something about his talent when we look at him as a college prospect. Luke showed considerable finished arm strength for his age, and although he can develop more balance thru the duration his throwing motion over the coming years, this young man has a lot of upside. I also love a prospect that shows growth from rep #1 to rep #2 in the testing sessions, as Luke showed that consistency across all of his testing numbers. Excited to watch this local kid blossom over the next several years from my area.
Carter Carstens Carter Carstens 6'3" | 215 lbs | LB Chanhassen | 2025 State MN | QB | Chanhassen | 2025
I didn’t get to watch Boom in the testing sessions but did see some quality reps in 1v1s that I liked. He showed great poise for his age from the QB position and that will blossom nicely as he develops over the coming years. This young man loves to make throws that are really beneficial in showing off his receiving core’s playmaking ability. Boom shows a solid ability over the middle of the field to make the hard-efficient throw that I love to see a young QB prospect make on tape, in which he starts to show it consistently the deeper you get into his tape. Boom is certainly a kid I will have my eyes on over the coming years, as he plays like a swiss-army knife for the Storm.
Jacob Royse Jacob Royse 5'10" | 170 lbs | QB Lakeville South | 2023 State MN | QB | Lakeville South | 2023
You might have learned about Jacob a few weeks ago at #Back2Ballin, but there is a reason we are talking about him yet again tonight in the Gunslinger session. Jacob has an elite focus when I watch him step up for his reps and is a team-first player that the coach can count on to do whatever is asked of him. Jacob was one of the faster quarterbacks in the testing session, and followed up using his quick release to rocket-fire with quick routes that resonated nicely with his wide receivers. Jacob will get his reps as QB1 for the Cougars in 2022, but man I really like young man’s tape as a defensive back, as he has a go-getter mentality with his contact ability and his ability to attack the ball, especially against Eden Prairie last season.
Albert Rundell Albert Rundell 6'1" | 195 lbs | ATH Watertown-Mayer | 2023 State MN | QB | Watertown-Mayer | 2023
Albert was one of the few prospects from this list I hadn’t gotten the chance to watch this offseason, and I am darn glad I watched him on Saturday at Park Center. Albert ran well in testing based on the size vs. numbers ratio at 6’0 205 pounds. Albert shows a strongly-thrown ball especially to the outside and with some developed balance, could even grow even more zip on the ball as the offseason gets going. My favorite play on tape? Tap in around 30 seconds into his junior tape, as Albert fights off heavy contact and finds a way to use great ball placement to find the hands of his Royals wide out from just a few yards out. This young man could be a great small-school prospect at the college level from what I witnessed on Saturday and with a big senior year could grow his stock even more. A second-team member of my All-Camp Team.
Jamarrius Courtney Jamarrius Courtney 6'0" | 200 lbs | QB Chaska | 2023 State MN | QB | Chaska | 2023
The QB Camp MVP was balling out at the Prep Redzone Showcase. What do I love most about Jamarrius? This young man’s arm strength was certainly tough to match regardless of the route he was throwing on last Saturday. He also tested in the top quarter of the QB class at a sizeable 6’1 220 pounds. Jamarrius is a prospect that doesn’t need a whole heck of a lot of space to throw as he shows so much poise when he’s working the pocket. Even when he throws off balance, he shows a superior amount of comfortability when he releases that football. His touch ball shows a lot more strength than most QB prospects his age and it certainly benefits his wide outs to say the least. He just has so much natural ability in his arm. College coaches have to be looking strongly at this young man when he is out at prospect camps this summer, as they are getting a kid that is the real deal in my eyes.
Jorge Irizarry | QB | St. Paul Humboldt | 2023
I watched Jorge on a few reps late in the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase and I wished I would have watched even more throughout the day. His ability to strongly step into his throws was one of my bests on the day from the showcase as he made some really efficient deep and intermediate routes look great with his vast throwing ability. When Jorge gets a clean pocket you will consistently see what we all saw at the PRZ Minnesota Showcase, a ball-thrower that shows excellent progressions thru the duration of his throwing motion. He also shows elite ball-placement and strong precision allowing his wideouts to catch & go quickly. Another QB prospect on this list that will play with some grit, by making the highly contested throw for all the marbles and successfully threads the nettle from what I found on tape. Jorge is a diamond in the rough coming out of the St. Paul city conference, but if I am a college program, I would certainly make the trip to Humboldt and take a look at this young man.
