Continue ReadingUpdating the Prep RedZone is always one of our favorite times of the year. We have the opportunity to see who rose in the rankings and which newcomers have come on to the scene. The purpose of this article is to take a look at some of the new prospects that have come on to the scene in in the April edition of updates.
Brian Huff Brian Huff 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Valley View | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Valley View
The Valley View linebacker has picked up scholarship numerous offers with his strong play last season. Huff is an explosive linebacker that can live in the opposing offensive backfield if unaccounted for on the field. The University of Arkansas thought of enough of Huff’s play to extend a scholarship off to him. He is a prospect that I expect to continue to rise up the rankings over the next few months.
Noah Janski Noah Janski 5'11" | 175 lbs | LB Fayetteville | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Fayetteville
Staying in the linebacker position grouping for a bit. Fayetteville linebacker Noah Janski Noah Janski 5'11" | 175 lbs | LB Fayetteville | 2024 State AR flashed good speed in pursuing the ball carrier. He is a young man with an extremely high motor. Janski is always around the football, and he does an excellent job of fending off blocks and getting into the opposing backfield. Janski is a prospect that I expect to have a big year for the Bulldogs. Keep an eye on Janski, he has the potential to shine on Fridays in the fall.
Ramsay Short Ramsay Short 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Russellville | 2024 State AR -Offensive Line-Russellville
Ramsay Short Ramsay Short 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Russellville | 2024 State AR is a versatile offensive lineman for the Russellville Cyclones. Short has the mix of power and foot speed to play the tackle or center position. From a rock blocking perspective, Short overpowers opposing defensive linemen. Short is solid when it comes to pass blocking. He is quick out of his stance and getting into the opposing linemen. I look for Short to have an excellent 2022 season and set the stage for a strong 2023 season in the process. Keep an eye on this Cyclone this season.
James Martin James Martin 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Bryant | 2024 State AR -Running Back-Bryant
The Bryant Hornet running back hits the hole with impressive quickness. Martin does not go down on initial contact and he forces the opposing defense to swarm him. Martin has good vision, and he allows the rushing lane to develop before he takes off through the hole. All Bryant running backs do an impressive job of catching the football and Martin is no exception. Martin is going to be a running back to watch over the next few seasons. He has the potential to be another impressive Bryant running back.
Da’Shawn Chairs Da’Shawn Chairs 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Elkins | 2024 State AR -Running Back-Elkins
Chairs exploded on to the scene last season. He is a prospect that can run the ball between the tackles and cut it to the outside with equal effectiveness. Chairs is difficult to bring down once he bursts into the open field. He is the kind of running back that has no problem catching the ball out of the backfield and I expect him to have another strong season in 2022. He is a prospect to keep an eye on this season.
Mabry Verser Mabry Verser 6'4" | 215 lbs | WR Rogers | 2024 State AR -Wide Receiver-Rogers
The Rogers wide receiver uses his size and athletic ability extremely well. Verser is dangerous in the red zone. He has the ability to go up and high point the football. Meanwhile, Verser’s speed is a trait that should not be overlooked. He has the speed to be dangerous with the football in his hands. Verser is a prospect that I expect to have a strong season in 2022. He will be a fun wide receiver to watch this coming season.
