<strong>THE EAGLES</strong>
After beating Orlando Jones in the state semifinals at home in overtime on December 3<sup>rd</sup>, there were very few people who were giving this football team any chance of standing toe-to-toe with unbeaten Tampa Jesuit in the 6A state title game.
Even with 12 straight wins, the Eagles were supposed to just fold up against a Jesuit team that had beaten national powers New Orleans Isadore Newman and St. Thomas Aquinas, and posted six shutouts during the season. That never happened.
Playing the unbeaten team in Miami, nothing stood in the way of the Eagles making the most of the 652-mile trip to south Florida, and while they lost, 35-29, this game was not over until the final minute.
Now, as they return in 2022 – with several key prospects – you can guarantee that this will be one of Florida’s teams to watch – and for good reason.
