That honor went to Byron guard Carter Geerts Carter Geerts 6'2" | 235 lbs | OL Byron | 2023 State MN .
“(The day) went really well, but I need to keep improving and keep getting better,” Geerts said. “That is what the drills here are helping me do.”
Geerts came to Brooklyn Center looking to improve in several areas.
“I wanted to get (college) exposure and get better as a player, as a person, and as a teammate. It was an awesome experience.”
As a player, Geerts felt the coaching improved his footwork.
“I am working on my footwork right now. Putting your feet in the ground is so important and something everyone can improve on. I improved my kick step and my power step. They both got way better because of today.”
His footwork has been something he works on – without training for football.
“I wrestle, and I went to the state tournament for the first time (this winter),” Geerts told prepredzonemn.com. “I am a single leg takedown guy. I (also) throw in track.”
Improving his footwork, combined with where Geerts feels he is already strong, should play well next season.
“I played right guard. I am good at waiting to throw my hands – not giving (defenders) any space.”
In addition to footwork, Geerts is looking to improve his mindset going into his senior season.
“I am working on staying level (emotionally) – not getting too high or too low – bringing intensity every time.”
Geerts brought the intensity Saturday morning. It helped him excel this weekend and will continue to serve him well moving into the football season.
Geets notes:
Good technique and feet on a pass rush drill
Good feet with a strong shot to the upper body of the defensive lineman
Footwork stopped an outside pass rush
