The state’s highest classification is full of talented quarterbacks, and many of them play in the talent-rich Gwinnett County. One of the football hotbeds across the country, Gwinnett County is home to some of the state’s top programs and prospects, especially at quarterback.
Here are the leading returning passers in 7A from Gwinnett County…
Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA – Brookwood
One of the top overall QBs in the country for the 2023 class, Lonergan is a big-armed gunslinger and the top-ranked QB prospect in Georgia. who knows how to take off with his feet. As a passer, he consistently makes the right decisions, has a quick release, and makes it look easy at times. He’s got plenty of size at 6-foot-2 215-pounds, he’s strong, mobile, and has one of the strongest arms in the entire class. The multi-sport star has been a major prospect for years now and showed off his big arm and ability to run all season as a junior. As a junior last fall, Lonergan threw for just under 3,400 yards and 32 touchdowns to just two INTs. He also rushed for 645 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground, proving he’s a dynamic prospect with the ability to change the game in many ways. He’ll be able to pick the school of his choice and he’s expected to have another monster season later this fall as a senior.
Colin Houck Colin Houck 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Parkview | 2023 State GA – Parkview
One of the many breakout QBs across the state last season, Houck was one of the more consistent passers in Gwinnett County last fall and proved that he can play at a high level in college. He’s a longer, leaner QB at 6-foot-2 180-pounds with a live, accurate arm. He’s a good athlete who also stars on the baseball diamond. Houck impressed as a junior last season where he threw for close to 2,142 yards and 19 touchdowns in one of the toughest regions in the state. He looks the part, he has a strong arm, and he’s ready to take the next step in his development this spring. He’s have some high expectations on him in 2022, but Houck has the arm talent to take Parkview a long way as a senior.
One of the more underrated QBs across Gwinnett County, Kidd is an up and coming prospect who has a chance to really shine this spring once college coaches can see him throw the ball in person. His stats from last season won’t blow anyone away with his 1,655 yards and 13 touchdowns, but that could chance as a senior in 2022. He has plenty of size at 6-foot-4 195-pounds with lots of raw arm talent. He throws with a lot of zip and knows how to push the ball down the field. Kidd can elude defenders and make plays with his feet while still learning and developing as a quarterback. As he progresses, he could see some D! interest possibly coming his way. He’s full of potential, but has to put it all together in 20222.
Ethan Washington – North Gwinnett
One of the better dual-threat QBs in Gwinnett County, and arguably the best overall athlete on the team, Washington is a dynamic QB who is still developing as a passer. He has a big arm and his overall arm strength is easy to see, but he has to be more consistent and accurate as a senior this fall. He moves really well and can make plays with his feet, and he has decent size at 6-foot-3 190-pounds. He has the potential to have a big senior season after a junior season where he threw for 1,620 yards and 12 touchdowns. There is still some growing to do, but he’ll be one of the more experienced QBs across 7A in the county for the 2022 season.
