There was an abundance of talent on hand at the NP Camp Series Showcase at A.L. Brown HS on April 24th. The temps were mild, and it was an ideal day to host an event. There were approximately 200 players that participated in the showcase. The players listed caught my attention and their performances were amongst the tops in their defensive position groups. Jeff Mullins’ showcases are always organized and well-run. I enjoy covering NP Showcases.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="136339" first="Matt" last="Preddice"], DL, 6’4" 230, Heritage HS</strong>. Matt has been training during the off-season with an emphasis on speed-work. The hard work shown as he ran a 4.52, 40-yard run which makes him a solid D1 prospect. He moved with quickness and good agility was displayed as he participated in the drills during the testing phase of the event. He was quick out of his stance and displayed the ability to change direction quickly. The expectations are high for [player_tooltip player_id="136339" first="Matt" last="Preddice"] as he prepares for the upcoming season.
<strong>Myllone Patton, DB, 5’11" 165, Hough HS</strong>. He displayed speed and quickness in his movements as he participated in the drills during the testing phase of the event. He ran a 4.58, 40-yard run, and his speed was on display. Myllone moved with precision cuts and fluid movements. Myllone Patton displayed the athleticism which makes him a solid defender in man-coverage. He is expected to be a leader in the defensive secondary during the upcoming season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="45004" first="Garvey" last="Sterling"], LB, 6’0" 210, Hough HS</strong>. He displayed good agility and quickness in his movements as he participated in the drills during the testing phase of the event. He displayed fluid hip movement and the ability to change directions quickly. Garvey is a talented linebacker who has the power to disrupt plays and the quickness to cover receivers on short passing routes. [player_tooltip player_id="45004" first="Garvey" last="Sterling"] is expected to be a dominant force on the defensive unit during the upcoming season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="325339" first="Brayden" last="Manley"], DL, 6’1" 235, West Craven HS</strong>. He is an athletic defensive lineman who displayed quickness and mobility in his movements. He displayed good footwork and use of hands while participating in the drills during the testing phase of the events. He had a strong work ethic and is constantly training to improve his skillset. [player_tooltip player_id="325339" first="Brayden" last="Manley"] moves with a purpose and is expected to be the leader of the defensive unit during the upcoming season. He is a solid FCS prospect who recently received his first FCS offer.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="308730" first="Ryan" last="Ziegler"], LB, 6’0" 215, Cardinal Gibbons HS</strong>. He has been training during the off-season to improve his skillset. The results shown throughout the event as he participated in various drills during the testing phase. Ryan displayed flexibility, fluid hip movement and the ability to change direction quickly. He displayed agility and balance in his movements. He displayed good speed and quickness to be able to cover receivers on the short and mid-range pass plays. [player_tooltip player_id="308730" first="Ryan" last="Ziegler"] is expected to be one of the leaders on the State’s top defensive unit during the upcoming season.
