Penn State has a strong recruiting presence in the DMV area, and among the many recruits in attendance were some of the DMV’s elite high school athletes. Here are some of the player that attended Penn State this weekend.
Frankie Weaver Frankie Weaver 6'5" | 190 lbs | QB Good Counsel | 2024 State MD | 6’5’’ 190 lbs | Quarterback | Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD) | Class of 2024
Weaver, who is the 5th ranked Quarterback in the state and 38th overall in the state, was one of the athletes in attendance at Penn State this weekend. The Good Counsel QB, who was one of the top performers from the Under Armour Camp last month, would be a very good fit for the PSU offense.
Faheem Delane Faheem Delane 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Our Lady Of Good Counsel | 2025 State MD | 6’3’’ 185 lbs | Defensive Back | Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD) | Class of 2025
Delane is the top ranked Defensive Back in Maryland and the 5th ranked overall player in the state for the Class of 2025. The Good Counsel Freshmen DB, who was also one of the top DBs from the Under Armour Camp, earned an offer from Coach Franklin and staff this weekend.
Jaden Gordon | 6’ 170 lbs | Athlete | New Town High School (MD) | Class of 2023
Gordon is another athlete who was in attendance at Penn State this weekend. The New Town junior is one of the state’s hidden gems and provides an immediate spark for any offense. He has been productive this spring making plays for former NFL star Torrey Smith’s 7v7 Team, Level 82.
Tariq Hayer Tariq Hayer 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB St. Johns | 2025 State MD | 6’ 175 lbs | Defensive Back | St. Mary’s Ryken High School (MD) | Class of 2025
Hayer was named WCAC Honorable Mention as a Freshmen. He is the 9th ranked Defensive Back in the state and helped St Mary’s to their 3rd consecutive WCAC title. Hayer, who has been a play maker for 97 Octane’s 7v7 Team this spring, was another athlete who earned an offer from Penn St this weekend. The St. Mary’s Freshmen has had quite a spring, as he has also recently received offers from Maryland, Ole Miss, Boston College, and South Carolina.
Jamaun Brown Jamaun Brown 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Archbishop Curley Highschool | 2023 State MD | 5’10’’ 190 lbs | Linebacker | Archbishop Curley (MD) | Class of 2023
Brown, the 5th ranked LB in the state of Maryland for Class of 2023, was on the Nittany Lions’ campus this weekend. The Curley junior finished last season with 50 plus tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 sack. He has also visited Holy Cross, Marist, Liberty, and Villanova this spring.
Jordan Saunders | 5’10’’ 165 lbs | Defensive Back | Washington and Lee High School (VA) | Class of 2023
Saunders, who was well decorated for his performance last season, was another stellar athlete at Penn State this weekend. He was named 1st Team All State, Northern Neck District Defensive Player Of The Year, 1st Team All District DB and WR, All Region as a DB and WR, and All Academic Team last season. He also has been busy this spring making plays for Level 82’s 7v7 Team.
Hiro Carr | 6’ 170 lbs | Defensive Back | Colonial Forge High School (VA) | Class of 2023
Carr was on the PSU campus this weekend and has been very active this spring. The Colonial Forge DB was named 2nd Team All District last season and is receiving interest from many schools. Stanford, William and Mary, Duke, Davidson, Navy, Pitt, Monmouth, Delaware, JMU, Harvard, Richmond, Tenn, UConn, Maryland, ODU, ECU, and Norfolk St are just some of the schools that have him on their radar.
Jeremiah Pugh Jeremiah Pugh 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Saint Michael The Archangel | 2024 VA | 5’11’’ 205 lbs | Linebacker | St Michaels (VA) | Class of 2024
Pugh was another athlete that was on campus to visit Coach Franklin in the Penn State staff. The St Michaels Linebacker is also receiving interest from Cincy and Ball State.
