We are going to examine the running back position for the class of 2024 in this article. The talent is deep at the running back spot and the 2024 Prep RedZone Arkansas rankings reflect that fact.
Braylen Russell Braylen Russell 6'2" | 190 lbs | RB Benton | 2024 State AR -Hot Springs Lakeside-6’2” 190-Pounds
Russell has that rare mix of power and speed that make it tough for opposing defenders to wrap him up for a tackle. He is a running back that does not shy away from contact and has the ability to run defenders over. Russell has the speed needed to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. He can rush the ball between he tackles and cut it to the outside. One detail to remember, is that Russell gets stronger as the game progresses. The Arkansas commit has the potential to a strong season in 2022. Keep an eye out for him on Fridays this fall.
Jalen Dupree Jalen Dupree 6'1" | 210 lbs | RB Malvern | 2024 State AR -Malvern-6’1” 185-Pounds
Jalen Dupree Jalen Dupree 6'1" | 210 lbs | RB Malvern | 2024 State AR has excellent speed. He has taken to the track this offseason and has shaved some time off of his forty-yard dash. Recently, Dupree ran 4.5 forty-yard dash and is looking to continue his strong offseason. He is a running back that has the impressive ability to make quality defenders miss. When he gets into the open field, he is a treat to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The 2022 season has the potential to be an explosive one for Dupree.
Austyn C Dendy Austyn C Dendy 6'2" | 195 lbs | RB Pine Bluff | 2024 State AR -Pine Bluff-6’2” 170-Pounds
The Pine Bluff running back is a prospect that can run it between the tackles or cut it outside with equal effectiveness. Dendy has the power to run it between the tackles. He is a prospect that will not go down on an initial contact and multiple tacklers have to swarm him to bring him down. Dendy is a versatile running back that does a good job of being able to catch the football. Pine Bluff has a talented roster coming up through the ranks and I expect a big season from Dendy and the Zebras this season.
Da’Shawn Chairs Da’Shawn Chairs 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Elkins | 2024 State AR -Elkins-5’7” 160-Pounds
One of the most slippery running backs in the state to bring down is Da’Shawn Chairs Da’Shawn Chairs 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Elkins | 2024 State AR . Chairs exploded on to the scene last season for Elkins. The ability he has to cut the run to the outside is extremely impressive. Chairs is a nightmare to bring down when he gets into the open field. He can be split out at the wide receiver position and cause plenty of problems for the opposing defense. Chairs is a running back to keep an eye on this season. He has the potential to have a big season in 2022.
Landen White Landen White 5'10" | 150 lbs | RB Mountain Home | 2024 State AR -Mountain Home-5’10” 150-Pounds
Versatility is the name of the game for Landen White Landen White 5'10" | 150 lbs | RB Mountain Home | 2024 State AR . The Mountain Home Bomber racked up 1,000 all-purpose yards a season ago. He does a great job of catching the ball out of the backfield and turning a short gain into an explosive play. White does a good job of allowing the hole to develop before he explodes through it. I look for White to have another strong season in 2022. Whether it be at running back, linebacker, or on special teams, the young man should use that high motor all next season.
