With 2023, 2024, and 2025 prospects hitting the camp circuit hard this weekend, we are going to look at a few prospects that had strong performances over the weekend. Several names you may be familiar with already and some of them will be players you want to keep an eye out for as the season approaches.
Damorrion Johnson-Athlete-West Memphis-2023
Johnson is a playmaker on both sides of the ball for West Memphis. On the defensive side of the ball, Johnson does a great job of beating the opposing wide receiver to the football. Over the weekend, Johnson was able to attend the VTO Sports competition in Little Rock. Johnson walked away with MVP honors at the VTO Sports competition. He is a prospect that is off to a strong start this season and I expect him to continue his impressive production during the football season.
Amarie Rogers Amarie Rogers 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Maumelle | 2023 State AR -Tight End-Maumelle-2023
The Maumelle tight end is continuing his strong offseason by earning MVP honors for the tight end position at the VTO Sports competition over the weekend. Rogers is a nightmare for opposing defenses to account for in the passing game. He has good speed and soft hands and can make difficult receptions look easy. Rogers is an unselfish blocker and someone that does not mind blocking for his teammates. He is a prospect to keep an eye on this season, he is off to a great start in the offseason.
Dax Goff Dax Goff 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Booneville | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Booneville-2024
Goff exploded on to the scene during the 2021 football season. Since then, the young man has racked up honors on the baseball diamond as well as competing and excelling in track and field events. At the VTO Sports competition, Goff displayed his explosiveness in racking up honors at the linebacker position. Goff is a linebacker to keep an eye on in the class of 2024. He has the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.
Isaac Gregory Isaac Gregory 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Fort Smith Southside | 2024 State AR -Running Back-Fort Smith Southside-2024
The Southside running back had the opportunity over the weekend to display his versatility as well as his excellent speed. Gregory displayed that he could split out at the wide receiver position and catch the football. He earned an opportunity to compete at the VTO All-American competition later in the summer. Gregory has the opportunity to earn plenty of carries this fall and is someone that could cause plenty of trouble for opposing defenses.
Carter McElhany Carter McElhany 5'7" | 155 lbs | WR Greenbrier | 2023 State AR -Wide Receiver-Greenbrier-2023
Carter McElhany Carter McElhany 5'7" | 155 lbs | WR Greenbrier | 2023 State AR continues to open plenty of eyes with his terrific speed and ability to catch the football. He is having an extremely impressive offseason in performance camps and in 7-on-7 competitions. The Greebrier wide receiver has the ability to get to a second gear quickly and leave opposing defensive backs behind him in the process. I expect McElhany to have a big 2022 football season in the fall.
Chandler Laurent Chandler Laurent 5'7" | 185 lbs | LB Pine Bluff | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Pine Bluff-2024
Pine Bluff is going to be loaded at the linebacker position over the next few years. Laurent displayed great speed at the VTO Sports competition and earned MVP honors at the linebacker position. Laurent is another linebacker that makes up an extremely linebacker class for the class of 2024. I expect a big season from the Pine Bluff linebacker this season. He has the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.
