Continue ReadingThis weekend I traveled to Kansas City to watch Omaha’s Battle Warriors 7v7 team compete in the KC Varsity Combine 7v7 tournament. The Battle Warriors came into the tournament looking to make it two in a row after winning this tournament last year. They faced challenges like less than ideal wind conditions and missing five players on recruiting trips, camps, etc. Nonetheless, Coach Abdul Muhammad was able to rally his crew to a very impressive outing. The Battle Warriors ended group play with two wins, a loss, and a tie, giving them a #2 seed going into bracket play. This is where the Warriors made quick work of the opposition and ended the tournament as the last team standing. The Battle Warriors left Kansas City as back-to-back tournament champs. Great way to end the 7v7 season and good momentum going into tackle season.
Along with taking pictures, I also took a lot of mental notes about the players I went to watch. Below are a few quick notes about each player and what I thought of their performances on Saturday.
Sebastian Circo Sebastian Circo 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Millard North | 2025 FL (QB – 2025) | Omaha North
- I got my first real look at Sebastian this weekend and was very impressed by this young man. He was absolutely slinging it at the tournament.
- Circo showed the zip to push the ball downfield even though it was a very windy day.
- He attacks the defense at all levels and can fit the ball in tight pockets.
- Sebastian also does a great job maneuvering around the pocket and throwing on the run.
- Very underrated aspect – he’s got poise and swagger that is hard to shake—very mature football mind.
Thomas Spears Thomas Spears 5'7" | 145 lbs | ATH Ashland Greenwood | 2025 State NE (DB/WR – 2025) | Ashland-Greenwood
- Thomas was named the tournament MVP. An honor that the coaches of the participating teams pick.
- Spears was a human highlight reel on Saturday. His arsenal of skills was on full display as he got the job done on offense and defense.
- Offensively he was unstoppable, especially when teams tried to play man coverage on him.
- He has swift feet and can maintain his speed when changing direction. Spears took a lot of ankles on Saturday.
- Defensively, Thomas is very instinctive and reacts in a snap. He makes great decisions in coverage and even snagged an interception or two.

Titan Glassman Titan Glassman 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Omaha Westside | 2025 State NE (WR/DB – 2025) | Omaha North
- Titan is an all-around talent. I was very impressed by him and his play on both sides of the ball.
- Titan was very impressive as a receiver. He does all the little things very well. He has explosive hips, quick feet, a strong hands catcher, and runs crisp routes.
- He can elevate and high-point the ball and make several catches over opposing DBs.
- Defensively, Titan is a head-hunter that makes his way to the ball on almost every play. He has excellent closing speed and loves to get his hands involved when the ball is in the air.
- You can tell there’s something special about this kid.

Anthony Liggins Anthony Liggins DB Omaha Central | 2025 State NE (DB – 2025) | Omaha Benson
Hudl | Twitter
- LOCKDOWN corner! This kid is super tough and a flat-out grinder.
- One of my favorite moments of the tournament happened after a receiver made a catch on Anthony and did a little talking. Anthony took a step back, said “Okay” to himself (like that Cam Newton gif), and then proceeded to lock that same receiver down for the rest of the game. Just bullied him. That’s all I needed to know he’s not the one to play with.
- Anthony is very physical and can jam and press on any receiver. He uses his hands very well and can get them in between the ball and receiver to break up passes.
- He is very shifty and can flip his hips with fluidity.

Davieian Williams Davieian Williams 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE (WR/DB – 2024) | Lincoln
- Davieian was awarded the “Fastest Man at the Tournament” with a 40-yard time of 4.76.
- His speed definitely translates to the game as he was able to burn defenders and get behind defenses. He also does a great job with the ball in his hands.
- Davieian had a couple of frustrating defensive series to start the day, but he shook off those cobwebs and finished the day on a very strong note. I thought this was highly impressive.
- He can elevate and has a large catch radius. Using his lengthy frame to make plays on the ball and was especially dangerous in the redzone.
- Very opportunistic DB that used his football IQ and instincts to jump a few routes that ended up in picks or batted passes.
- 2024 fast-riser candidate!

DJ Sterling DJ Sterling 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Omaha Central | 2024 State NE (DB/WR -2025) | Omaha Benson
- DJ is a player that I haven’t had a chance to watch a whole lot of tape on, but he provided more than enough highlight-type plays on Saturday.
- Sterling got the job done on both offense and defense, especially on offense as a receiver.
- He does a great job locating the football and using his hands to make the catch.
- Great open-field skills when he has the ball in his hand. Shifty, quick feet, and long strides.
- He is very sticky and physical in coverage and I thought he was one of the unsung heroes of the day.
Pierce Mooberry Pierce Mooberry 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE (WR/DB – 2025) | Millard North
- The only way to describe Pierce is he’s a football Unicorn. He has a unique blend of athleticism, length, vertical, and strong hands.
- He normally doesn’t play on this team so he got off to a slow start but once he caught on he became a reliable receiving option.
- He’s turning into a sideline/redzone monster.
- What is really impressive is the fact that Pierce normally plays defensive end on defense but he was making some plays in the safety position.
- Pierce is a player to monitor closely over the next few years.

Aamir Hill Aamir Hill ATH Millard South | 2025 State NE (DB – 2024) | Omaha Central
- This was my first glimpse at Aamir’s game and I came away very impressed by his football IQ and tenacity.
- Aamir showed that he has great ball skills and can make smart snap decisions when he picked off two interceptions (and that’s just my count there might be a third).
- He did a great job acting as “centerfielder” in LB/S role and I thought he did very well. He switches off on zone concepts with smoothly and is sticky when asked to play man.
- Hill also does a great job using his hands to make receivers’ lives difficult. He had some crucial pass break ups.

Avry Harris (WR/DB – 2026)
- Avry is only an 8th grader and already looks like he’s going to be a force in the high school ranks.
- Harris showed more polish than you would expect to see from a 14-year-old.
- He made some really tough catches and showed that he has great hands.
- Harris’ physicality transfers to the defensive side where he played some tough coverage and wasn’t afraid to jam up on receivers.
- Avry is a high upside player that is developing into one of the best young athletes in the state. Benson is getting a top-notch player.
