Like the QB Class. the 2024 Running Back class is filled with emerging talent that I hope becomes fully realized. Today I’ll be discussing a few of the RBs on the 2024 watch list, and I’ll list a few expectations for each.
[player_tooltip player_id="249487" first="Quinn" last="Stephens"] - Lincoln - 6’0 200lbs
I remember watching Stephens film for the first time and being blown away. His highlights from 2020 are incredible, with him throwing defenders to the side and running hard, sporting excellent power and balance. However, I haven’t seen much, if any, about Stephens since. His Twitter is empty, no hudl highlights since 2020, no team hudl updates, and my attempts to contact the coaching staff have fallen on deaf ears. My optimistic hope is that Stephens is working behind the scenes to become the dominant varsity back that I know he can be.
[player_tooltip player_id="216985" first="Nolan" last="Block"] - Troy - 5’7 175lbs
Perhaps better suited in the ATH classification, [player_tooltip player_id="216985" first="Nolan" last="Block"] was very versatile for the Colts last season. He runs very hard at RB, runs good routes at WR, and has good DB skills. How he can raise his stock is a great regular season, especially against league opponents, and a few great playoff performances would sensationally help his stock.
[player_tooltip player_id="253269" first="Billy" last="Roberson II"] - Lake Orion - 5’11 180lbs
Playing in a hybrid Veer system, [player_tooltip player_id="253269" first="Billy" last="Roberson II"] was a good back this past season. As a runner, he’s fast and always gets a few extra yards after contact. Though, gaining some muscle with better field vision + change of direction & balance would take his game a long way. Some highlights could have been made even better if he improved on the things I just mentioned. He’s been receiving some hype, even being invited to the Elite Exposure camp. I hope to hee improved physical as well as mental traits come this fall.
Kassen Bazzi - Fordson - 6’0 190
With some added muscle and increased speed, Bazzi could be a problem next season. Fordson is a huge football school with many great athletes, and Bazzi could be next in line. He had a great JV season last year with flashes of excellent field vision and general IQ. His 40 time is listed at 4.9, but he looks to be quicker on tape, and I believe that to be because of his efficiency as he doesn’t waste steps.
