This is largely due to the fact that they are very young, and typically do not have as much exposure, or film on them at this point in their career to be drawing the offers that high profile QB’s typically receive. Regardless, we wanted to give some credit to some of our favorite 2024 QB prospects in the state of GA, who you may not have heard of, but very much deserve more credit than they have received at this point.
Mason Fortune Mason Fortune 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Millbrook | 2024 State NC – Millbrook
Fortune may be incredibly raw, but he has plenty of talent that will continue to develop and be cultivated over the coming years. There should be no shock that he was a leading passer in the state last year for his class, because he throws with good velocity, and touch, and does a good job of getting the ball out to receivers, no matter how difficult the play. Fortune also has a solid release, but has plenty of development on his overall mechanics in the way that he squares his shoulders. Despite this, we still feel he is underrated due to the fact that he plays consistent football, and because he leads his team to wins and positions them well at all times situationally. Lastly Fortune also throws well with a side arm, and does a good job when the play breaks down. Look for him to continue to develop in the future.
Tyler Green Tyler Green 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Cabarrus Warriors | 2024 State NC – Cabarrus
There are plenty of things that make Green leap off of the screen. Not only does he do a good job of making off platform throws, but he can also make tight window passes as well. In addition to this, he plays with a decent release, and vision of the field. It can also be seen that he makes plays at various levels of field, and can throw deep balls effortlessly. We also like his escape-ability, and the way that he makes plays with his legs, even in some of the toughest situations. Even with all this raw talent, Green still has plenty of development left ahead of him, including his consistency with some of his ball placement and footwork. This upcoming season should be great for his development moving forward.
Tanner Ballou Tanner Ballou 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Northwest Guilford | 2024 State NC – Northwest Guilford
There are plenty of things that make Ballou a special talent to watch moving forward. Not only does he throw the ball well on the run, but he does a good job of making passes effortlessly from the pocket. He has decent footwork, and seems to do a decent job of viewing the field at all levels. He also has the velocity and ball placement to make intermediate throws look easy, and we also like the way that he gets the ball out quickly for short routes. Look for him to develop moving forward, including in his footwork, as well as his size and frame. He may be a tad raw, but we see plenty of talent in him in the future.
Turner Wood- Hickory
One of the things that leaps off of Wood’s film is his ability to make deep throws, and intermediate throws cleanly due to his arm strength. He has plenty of development ahead of him though, including in his mechanics and his release. Regardless, he has no problem getting the ball out quickly. We also like the way that Woods throws the ball with velocity, and accuracy. Don’t let this fool you though, because he also has the ability to throw the ball with touch, including in the end zone on fade routes. We would like to see him use his feet and vision more effectively, as we feel that it can help him to make even better throws and more timely situations moving forward. Regardless, we think he is a very talented young prospect, with a high ceiling ahead of him if he continues to develop.
