Having a top-tier running back gives a team a serious boost in the playmaking department. Indiana’s Class of 2023 is loaded with running back talent. Today, we look at some of the top runners in the class heading into their senior seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id="39066" first="Caleb" last="Marcus"] is capable of creating explosive plays every time he gets the ball in his hands. Marcus is great on the perimeter. Any time he gets the ball on the edge, he is likely to find space, make tacklers miss and wow fans in the process. Marcus does very well in the screen-game. He is a reliable pass-catcher who gets his eyes up field quickly. On the ground, Marcus is great at picking up chunk yardage and wearing down the opposing defense. He can keep the offense on schedule and keep the opposing defense on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id="107267" first="Robert" last="Lamar"] is a sensational downhill runner for Clarksville. He runs behind his pads and gets a head of a steam going toward the line-of-scrimmage. But Lamar’s impact is not only felt in the middle as he does well off-tackle. Lamar is very difficult to bring down. As a junior, Lamar picked up an outstanding 2,222 rushing yards. Even more impressive is the fact that 27 of his carries were converted into touchdowns.

In 2021, [player_tooltip player_id="107290" first="Drew" last="Wheat"] played an integral role in Center Grove capturing another 6A state championship. As a senior next fall, he will be looking to cap his high school career in a big way. A season ago, Wheat ran the ball 130 times for 1,003 rushing yards. He added 13 rushing touchdowns to his strong resume. Wheat contributed to the passing-game as well. He snatched nine receptions for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id="39068" first="Trey" last="Gibson"] is a playmaker who not only helps sustain drives, but makes sure that they finish with six points. He ran 223 times for over 1,600 yards. Gibson accumulated an incredible tally of 33 rushing touchdowns during his junior campaign. He brought in 26 receptions for 374 yards. Gibson added a trio of touchdowns as a receiver. He also provided a spark returning kickoffs. Gibson returned 15 kicks for over 300 yards.
