Jalen Thomeson Jalen Thomeson 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH Center Grove | 2023 State IN – Center Grove – ATH – 5’11″ 180lbs
Thomeson is someone who could play all 3 phases if he wanted to. Right now, he’s key on defense and special teams while making an offensive appearance here and there. When he’s on the field, good things happen. He just seems to find his way toward the ball and is able to make the play. Center Grove will move him down an LB, S, and have him play CB from time to time. Quite literally wherever they need Thomeson to make a play, they send him over and let him go to work. He’s instinctive and trusts what he sees. He understands play development and knows how to take proper angles to slice gaps and make the play. He’s a sound tackler and won’t miss many in the open field. When he gets the chance, he’s going to lay a big hit down. There are times he throws himself at the ball carrier and while not necessarily bad, I’d like to see him be more consistent with his form. His coverage skills are solid for his age and he’s someone who naturally has the backpedal down. Thomeson doesn’t make many mistakes on the field and bounces around as much as possible to limit how the offense can minimize him. He’s a defensive weapon and is someone defenses have to gameplan for. I’m excited to see what he can do this fall because there’s no telling where he may want to land collegiately and we’ll get some answers soon enough.
Hunter Gennicks Hunter Gennicks 5'11" | 195 lbs | ATH Linton-Stockton | 2023 State IN – Linton-Stockton – ATH – 5’10″ 195lbs
Gennicks is one of the more interesting recruits we’ve come across in quite some time. Not very often do we see a dual-threat QB light it up on both phases on offense and turn around and play every down on defense while being one of the star players over there too. When I say he’s a dual-threat QB, I mean it. Last year he had over 1100 rushing yards and then matched that with 1500 passing yards. He was killing defenses and they had no answer. He has incredible vision and is able to find lanes you didn’t think existed. He’s strong and able to break tackles, runs with good pad level, and can make a guy miss just as easily as he could run through him. In terms of passing, Gennicks is not bad. He’s got a decent ball and throws it rather effortlessly. He doesn’t seem to strain and has a nice grip on it. His mechanics and throwing motion are a work in progress but the ball dang near always lands right where it needs to. Defensively, he’s just as sound. Not quite as dynamic as on offense, but he’s so reliable when he’s out there. Gennicks is able to diagnose, come downhill, and make the tackle. He won’t overpursue and trusts what he sees. Playing QB has given him a good understanding of how to diagnose plays while being on the opposite side. I’m not sure what his college plans are but I hope he stays on the offensive side of the ball and develops as much as he can there. He’s a great athlete who picks up things quickly. His future is bright and I hope this fall he’s able to take another step forward and land at the college program that’ll help him reach his full potential.
Carson Dunn Carson Dunn 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Fishers | 2023 State IN – Fishers – ATH – 5’10″ 195lbs
Dunn is a 2-way player for Fishers who just knows how to ball. I mean honestly, it’s that simple. He’s on the field because good things happen when he’s around. Offensively, at RB he’s a home run hitter. You have to watch out because he’s got really good vision with great speed. He’s able to find lanes, turn the corner, and hit the gas before the defense realizes what’s happening to them. He’s a strong runner as well and is able to fend off tacklers just as often as he can make them miss in the hole. He’s good out of the backfield and if you just chuck the ball to him, he’ll figure out how to come down with it and then teleports to the endzone. Often times he’s the best athlete on the field and can do what he wants. Defensively, he’s good too. He plays DB for Fishers but that’s also just so they can move him around. He flies around making tackle after tackle when he’s out there. He won’t miss a play and is aggressive. He likes to come downhill and come 100mph without thinking twice. Great athletes who work hard have high ceilings. Dunn is absolutely no different here and I know he’s listed as an ATH, but he’s a future college star RB if he wants it. This fall is huge because everyone knows who he is now. Can he take that next step? We’ll see but I’d bet my money he does. Where he lands at the next level is TBD but hopefully, he gets into the perfect school for his talents.
Marcus Greathouse Marcus Greathouse 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Scecina Memorial | 2023 State IN – Scecina Memorial – ATH – 5’10″ 175lbs
Greathouse is someone who you can argue doesn’t have a set position. 1 play he’s in the backfield and the next play he’s lined up in the slot running a shake route in the middle. Then, he’ll be out there on special teams blocking kicks and line up at CB on defense. He almost never comes off the field and that’s because he’s always making plays. At RB, he’s a straight-line runner and will get downhill immediately. He won’t make a ton of guys miss, but he’ll lower his pad level and try running them over. He’s got decent speed and solid vision so he’s able to rip off decent runs. At receiver, his routes do need some work but he’s able to make the play when the ball comes his way. However, I’d argue he’s best on defense. He’s a true corner and lines up out wide and does the best he can to make the receiver he comes across disappear. Greathouse can play aggressively and keep the receiver in his back hip and take a shot at the ball. If he can, Greathouse is going to catch the ball and pick it off. He’s got good ball skills and is able to layout for some doozies. He’s a reactive player who lets the play develop and makes the play right as it’s time to do so. He’s versatile, smart, and knows how to make plays. Good things happen when you have that combination and this fall if he’s able to take another step forward, the offers will come hot and heavy.
