I took to Twitter to find some game films to review and break them down. Here are five players from the 2023 & 2024 classes that responded to my tweet and shared their game tapes.

<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12649941/Beau-LaCroix" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/lacroix_beau" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Beau is a grinder on the field that does whatever is needed from him. He plays both linebacker and running back for the Mead Raiders. Lacroix is a high-energy, non-stop motor type of player you love to have in the middle of your defense. He is one of the returning tackle leaders with 128 total tackles, and he added 12 tackles for loss and 2 sacks onto his defensive production. Beau does a great job getting his nose right in the chest of the ball carrier and pushing them back. He has a good frame for the inside linebacker position and has a good burst and quick instincts. Beau is also a tough runner who uses his power to bully defenders. In his senior year, Lacroix rushed for 474 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns and could improve on those numbers. Lacroix could make a push for state leader in tackles next year.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="226960" first="Mason" last="Blankenship-Jones"] (2023 - ATH) | Omaha Burke | 6’0" 190</strong></em>

Mason is a player that I’m excited to see back on the field in 2022 after his season was cut short in his junior year. Mason is an interesting prospect because of how versatile he is on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he should step into the RB1 spot next year, and I believe he could play a role similar to what [player_tooltip player_id="191113" first="Donovan" last="Moody"] played in 2021. He’s a speedy, shifty back that can also make catches out of the backfield. Mason can play all over the field on defense, whether he’s in the slot, nickel, or safety spots. He is very physical in coverage and delivers big hits that juggled many would-be catches, loose. Blankenship-Jones can also step up and help in run support and added 13 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss on the year. Mason recently received an offer from Grinnel College and should continue to stack them up as he gets healthy and starts competing.

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="304795" first="Michael" last="McGovern"] (2023 - DL) | Omaha Burke | 5’8" 225 lbs</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/14383201/Michael-McGovern" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/michaelmcg_6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
Michael is an up-and-coming DT in the 2023 class that could have a huge breakout season in year 4. Although he is a little undersized, Michael is a fighter in the trenches that can eat up the interior line and open up gaps for his teammates. McGovern tallied 40 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks coming primarily from the NG/DT position. He is a run-stuffing machine that uses his leverage to get under his blockers and walk them back with his strength. McGovern is relatively under-the-radar in recruiting circles, but he does have some camp opportunities to boost his stock. Overall, Michael is a relentless force on the interior defensive line that plays hard up until the whistle blows,

<em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="226987" first="Caleb" last="Jacobmeier"] (2023 - LB/S) | Bellevue West | 6’1" 205</strong></em>
<em><strong><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12780996/Caleb-Jacobmeier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/CJacobmeier" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a></strong></em>
The Thunderbirds have something brewing with this young defender. Jacobmeier played a limited role but should see an increase in his snaps with the departure of several defensive players. In 2021, Caleb tallied 13 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack as he began to get his feet wet against Class A competition. Caleb is a very impressive prospect because he has great measurables, and his athleticism allows him to be moved around the defense. He has the frame and build to play outside ’backer with the length and quickness to play in the secondary. When Jacobmeier plays off the edge, he does a good job getting disengaged from his blocker to make a play on the ball. I’m expecting Caleb to blow up on the recruiting circuit as he continues to fine-tune his game and steps into a full-time starting role.
