I want to use my next couple of articles to dive into the 8 man league. Today, we will look at the top returning offensive stat monsters. The numbers are impressive, and the talent is noteworthy. College coaches, don’t miss out on these hidden gems. Also, come back tomorrow for the Top Returning 8 Man Defensive Stat Monsters. Let’s get it started!
Top Returning Passers
Conner Krach, ’23- Newman Catholic
Season Stats: 2,396 Yards, 39 TDs, 71.1% Comp. Pct., 13.1 Yds/Att
The 6’ 160 lbs junior wrapped up his first season as the full time starter for Newman Catholic by leading the 8 man league in passing yards, and TDs. He also finished with the second highest completion percentage of any QB in 8 man with at least 10 pass attempts, and he did it while throwing the ball 183 times! The playmaker also is an exciting dual threat option who posted 76 rushing yards, and 9 TDs. All those numbers led to a perfect 13-0 season, and a State Championship. Conner is definitely an athlete to know. I’ll be keeping an eye out for his film this next season.
Danny Griffith, ’23- St. Mary Catholic
Season Stats: 1,887 Yards, 31 TDs, 75.2% Comp. Pct., 13.8 Yds/Att
The 5’9’’ 130 lbs athlete finished 2021 second in passing yards, third in passing TDs, and first in completion percentage for any player with 10 pass attempts or more. He did that while throwing the ball 137 times! Danny led St. Mary Catholic to a 9-0 record this past season while helping them put up 50 points per game.I’ll be interested to see what he is listed at this fall. He doesn’t have the size needed for the next level at this time, but I’ll be checking back to see if he put on any size over the summer. The numbers are impressive!
Nicholas Webster, ’23- Siren
Season Stats: 1,839 Yards, 21 TDs, 53% Comp Pct., 6.9 Yds/Att
The 6’1″ 185 lbs signal caller finished 2021 4th in passing yards, and has the third most off any returning passer for the 2022 8 man season. He also finished with the 4th most passing TDs. Nick also posted the most pass attempt of any 8 man QB during the 2021 season. He clearly carries a huge workload for Siren. Those numbers helped lead Siren to a 6-4 record. Watching through the film, you see a QB who relies on accuracy and touch over pure power. However, he does have enough velocity to give me faith tha the can play at the next level. D3 programs should take a look. He is also a talented shortstop and second baseman on the diamond. Webster vs Shell Lake
Top Returning Ball Carriers
Grady Koeplin, ’23- Gilman
Season Stats: 103 Carries, 1,010 Yards, 18 TDs, 9.8 Yds/Att
The 6’1″ 195 lbs FB is the only returning ball carrier who had over 1,000 rushing yards in 2021. His hard running led Gilman to a 10-1 record. Grady has a frame ready for the next level, and he plays with the power and strength needed to be able to handle the ruggedness of the college level. It isn’t easy to make the jump from 8 man to college football, but Grady has the frame, power, and enough athleticism to do it. The nearly 10 yard average while being a primarily north- south runner demonstrates how well he runs behind his pads and runs through tackle attempts. I expect even bigger numbers for the north- south runner. Grady vs McDonell Central
Tyler Rassbach, ’23 QB Prairie Farm
Season Stats: 122 Carries, 958 Yards, 15 TDs, 7.9 Yds/Att
The second most productive returning ball carrier is QB Tyler Rassbach. The dual threat option loses his leading rusher from last fall, so I expect big things from his this year as he looks to pick up the missing work. Tyler helped lead Prairie Farm to a 8-2 record and a trip to the playoffs. To go along with his rushing production, Tyler also posted 916 passing yards, and 10 passing TDs. Big year coming for Tyler.
Sam Marquardt, ’23- Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas
Season Stats: 139 Carries, 926 Yards, 12 TDs, 6.7 Yds/Att
The 5’10″ 155 lbs QB comes in as our third most productive returning ball carrier. The dual threat led his team to a 9-1 record and Level 2 playoff appearance. Sam finished 2021 tie for the lead in rushing TDs on his team, and was the second leading rusher. With the graduation of his senior RB you have to expect Sam to take the next step in his development, and pick up the slack left behind. That has me hyped to see big numbers from the dual threat.
Top Returning Pass Catchers
Adam Seeber Adam Seeber 5'9" | 155 lbs | DB Wabeno | 2023 State WI , ’23- Wabeno/ Laona
Season Stats: 65 Receptions, 963 Yards, 13 TDs, 14.8 Yds/Rec
Adam led the state (8 man) in receptions in 2021, while also finishing with the second most receiving yards, and the third most receiving TDs. The go- to target led his team to a 10-1 record. The compact, slot receiver is a slippery, elusive runner after the catch, and it also make him a dangerous return man. Adam is someone that the D3 level should have on their radars. He is going to continue tearing up the 8 man league this fall. Adam’s 2021 Highlights
Dale Tetrault, ’23- McDonell Central
Season Stats: 47 Receptions, 630 Yards, 9 TDs, 13.4 Yds/Rec
The 5’10″ 160 lbs receiver is one of the top prospects from the 8 man level that I have come across. His ball tracking skills jump off the tape as he easily adjust to the ball in the air and makes the over the shoulder catches look easy. His body control pairs up perfectly with that and shows up not only in those adjustments, but also in his route running as he is able to use some wiggle to shake DBs to help him create separation for his QB. I’ll be keeping a closer eye on Dale this fall after his big 2021! Dale’s 2021 Highlights
Braden Sitte, ’24- Gibraltar
Season Stats: 37 Receptions, 732 Yards, 9 TDs, 19.8 Yds/Rec
The only underclassman on the list is the Gibraltar product. Braden returns with the 4th most receptions of any returning 8 man receiver, and second most yards checking in at 6’2″ 160 lbs, Braden has the beginning of a solid frame. The length is already there, and as he fills out and adds strength he is going to become a much bigger problem for defensive backs. The hands jump off the screen while watching his highlights. It doesn’t matter if it is right on the numbers or out at his fingertips. Braden finds a way to haul in the ball. He also has solid speed to pair with his size. several of his highlights show him eating up cushion and beating DBs deep down the field. I’m excited for the young kid’s future!
