Whenever I think of the top of the Athlete class, I think about a few Swiss Army Knife players. To be a Swiss Army Knife, you must start on offense and defense and perform exceptionally well in all your positions. In the case of the following four players, these are all game-changers that pose significant headaches for opposing coaches. Here’s a quick breakout on those four guys!
[player_tooltip player_id="187994" first="Rayshaun" last="Hester"] - Chippewa Valley
Able to play just about any skill position under the sun, [player_tooltip player_id="187994" first="Rayshaun" last="Hester"]’s athleticism and game is unmatched. Playing all of the skill positions is no easy task, but Hester is the man for the job. He has half a dozen D1 offers already, and I think it’s safe to expect more down the line. I would love to see Hester improve his IQ and overall awareness in the future.
[player_tooltip player_id="188009" first="Shamar" last="Heard"] - Chippewa Valley
The fastest freshman in state history, [player_tooltip player_id="188009" first="Shemar" last="Heard"] is an elite weapon on an elite team. Just fathom these numbers; 10.64 100M, 21.06 200M, and 48.48 400M. The blazing speed of Heard makes him a tremendous offensive weapon with undeniable potential at just about any skill position. Incredibly, there are two fabulous Swiss Army Knives on the same team.
[player_tooltip player_id="188015" first="Caleb" last="Williams"] - Canton
A 3 sport athlete, Caleb Willaims is an all-around athlete that can do a ton on the field. Mainly playing WR/DB, Williams is twitchy and athletic, showing off his reaction time and speed on both sides of the ball. As a defensive back, he’s excellent in pass coverage but also quite good in run defense, despite sometimes inconsistent tackling.
[player_tooltip player_id="253296" first="Kyle" last="Robbins"] - Seaholm
Robbins is a highly-touted baseball prospect alongside being a fantastic asset for the Maples football program. When it comes to offense, Robbins plays SB on a veer offense. Essentially, he’s a WR/RB, though he’s also tasked with quite a bit of blocking. Defensively, Robbins is a defensive back that had a few massive games, more notably against North Farmington, where he made a few game-defining plays. Seaholm will be improved from last season, and I’m excited to see how good they can be!
