There are many archetypes of receivers out there. If you're an athlete reading this, you'll be familiar with the basic "Slot, Deep Threat, Physical, and Route Runner" categories that Madden has, which isn't a bad place to start. When I think of a physical receiver, I think of a big body who can go up and get any ball. Think Calvin Johnson or DK Metcalf (and no, I would never compare the two, Megatron is worlds better). Anyways, here are four receivers that thrive with physicality!
[player_tooltip player_id="190093" first="Nick" last="Marsh"] - River Rouge - 6’3" 195lbs
If you’re reading this, you know who [player_tooltip player_id="190093" first="Nick" last="Marsh"] is. One of the premier receiver talents in the country, [player_tooltip player_id= "190093" first= "Nick" last= "Marsh"] has developed a brand out of Mossing, or, I mean "Marshing" defenders. He's a well-rounded prospect that is known for being physical. He's constantly invited to the best camps in America, and he's always performed extremely well.
[player_tooltip player_id="251341" first="Jamari" last="Culliver"] - Marshall - 6’3" 205lbs
Culliver is an ultra-talented receiver that epitomizes physicality at the position. Just watch his highlights; his 2021 season is chock-full of insane catches and broken tackles. I remember first coming across his film and being blown away by the best highlights. Seriously looking forward to evaluating his 2022 season.
[player_tooltip player_id="178996" first="Evan" last="Boyd"] - East Lansing - 6’3" 190lbs
A star on the gridiron and hardwood, [player_tooltip player_id= "178996" first= "Evan" last= "Boyd"] is a great athlete and sensational receiver for a school known for a few great wideouts. His highlights are full of amazing hands, physicality, focus, and awareness. Boyd can make jaw-dropping plays, frequently embarrassing opposing defensive backs. I can't wait to see what 2022 has to offer for Boyd.
[player_tooltip player_id="162651" first="Semaj" last="Josiah Morgan"] - West Bloomfield - 5’10" 175lbs
Now, Morgan may not be the hulking presence some of these guys are, but he can go up and get any ball, and I just wanted an excuse to talk about this guy. Semaj j. Morgan is one of the most well-rounded receiver prospects in the nation, and he'll be a Michigan Wolverine after graduation. Speedy, twitchy, with great hands that warrant the physicality trait. He's able to go up top and make some amazing one-handed grabs.
