From the Blue Ridge Mountains, to Savannah, and all the way over to Valdosta, the state of Georgia produces high-caliber quarterbacks on an annual basis, and there is plenty of QB talent emerging in the 2024 class.
Here some top-rising 2024 QBs across Georgia to know about…
Aaron Philo – Prince Avenue Christian
Already known as one of the top young QBs in the state, Philo had some big shoes to fill this year as he tried to replace former All-American Brock Vandagriff, but Philo more than held his own this year as a sophomore, leading the state in passing for the 2024 class. It’s hard to call him a “stock riser” with the numbers he put up last season, but he still doesn’t have a giant offer list. Eventually, the offers should start rolling in for the big-time Athens-area passer. The 6-foot-2 175-pounder was excellent all season last year, throwing for 4,540 yards and 47 touchdowns. The young gunslinger also rushed for 5 more touchdowns on the season, proving he can be an asset as a runner as well. He looks the part for his age and he showed off his arm talent all season long. More importantly, he’s led the Wolverines to a 10-1 record.
Prentiss Noland -Langston Hughes
In the Atlanta area is where you’ll find one of the strongest arms across Georgia in the 2024 class. The big 6-foot-3 gunslinger from Fairburn is coming off a great sophomore season last fall where he pushed the ball down the field and rarely turned it over. He played like an upperclassman last year, distributing the ball and making sure he put thee ball in the endzone. A left-handed passer, Nolans throws with some zip on the ball and knows how to throw on the run as well. He was one of thee most productive quarterbacks across all classifications, throwing for over 2,500 yards and 34 touchdowns. He’s a strong pocket passer and expected to light up defenses all season as a junior in 2022.
Jake Merklinger Jake Merklinger 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Calvary Day | 2024 State GA – Calvary Day
One of the top young sophomores in Savannah, Merklinger had a breakout year as a sophomore last fall, showing really impressive poise and accuracy for someone his age. He completed 70% of his passes this year, and impressive number for anyone, much less a young sophomore. He made good decisions with the ball, throwing for 25 touchdowns to just 8 INTs. He commanded the offense and ran it well all season, making good decisions while showing off a big arm. He’s someone who can win games with his arm, and he lead Calvary Day to a 12-1 record last season. He also added just under 300 rushing yards and 11 more touchdowns, showing he’s a threat with his legs as well. He’s an easy D1 caliber quarterback, and he’ll be rising in the 2024 rankings sooner than later.
Jakhari Williams – First Presbyterian Day
Arguably thee top young QB in Middle Georgia, the Macon native is one of the most physically gifted passers in the area at 6-foot-3 190-pounds who is full of potential. He shows good footwork for his age, impressive arm strength, and chucks the ball deep down the field as well as anyone in the area. He’s accurate when throwing on the run, and his mobility makes him dangerous with the ball in his hands. He moves in the pocket well, can buy time for receivers to get open, and knows how to deliver a strike down the field. It’s easy to see his dynamic playmaking ability, and he’s only going to get better as he develops as a passer. He’s another young quarterback with D1 talent, and it’s only a matter of time before his recruitment starts to take off.
