Here are some of the most accurate passes last year from the 2023 class…
Shaihi Brown – Eagles Landing
An under the radar QB south of Atlanta, Brown is a playmaker as both a runner and a passer, and showed that he can throw a beautiful ball down the field. He’s also a quick decision make and does the right things with the ball. He gets the ball out quick, knows the position, and doesn’t let the ball hit the ground too often. He was accurate all season last fall as a junior, going 149/209 which is good for .713% through the air. He got the ball moving and can let it rip down the field. He had those numbers through 10 games, while throwing for 2,442 yards and 15 touchdowns.
QB RJ Johnson – Westlake
One of the biggest and most accurate passer in Atlanta, the big 6-foot-2 200-pound junior loves to sling it around the field and has been a multi-year starter for the Lions now. As a junior, Johnson was 182/279 (.652 %) for 2,673 yards and 25 TDs to just 4 INTs. He’s grown into an excellent passer and distributor, making the right choice all season. He took care of the football, didn’t turn it over, and beat some really talented defenses throughout the season. The Lions had a big season once again, and Johnson was a big reason why. If he continues to develop and progress in the off-season, Johnson could be one of the state’s leading passers as a senior next fall.
Ben Guthrie – Alpharetta
A quick and efficient runner from the metro-Atlanta area, Guthrie had an impressive junior season where he showed he can use his arm to win games. He throws well on the run and has a knack for fitting the ball into tight windows. Playing against some tough 7A competition week in and week out, Guthrie still found a way to be efficient and accurate with the ball each Friday night. The Alpharetta standout threw at .673% rate last fall, one of the best overall in the 2023 class. He also threw for 1,675 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season.
Briggs Eady – John Milledge Academy
One of the more productive QBs last year at the GISA level, Eady was as productive as it gets and took care of the football all season long, leading John Milledge to an undefeated 2021 season. A solid athlete with one of the best arms in the region, Eady was a precise passer who did his job and consistently got the ball to the proper receiver. He didn’t sling it around all year, but when he did throw it, good things happened. Eady was consistently accurate all season, completing .748% of his passes last fall. He was 89/119 on the year with 1,672 yards and 18 touchdown passes to just one INT.
Malachi Singleton – North Cobb
One of the top 2023 QB prospects across the South, Singleton is a powerful runner who took a big step forward as a passer last year. A dynamic playmaker on the ground and through the air, Singleton got the ball to his playmakers efficiently and consistently all season. The Warriors have plenty of guys who can run the ball, but Singleton’s impressive QB play and accuracy all season was tough to stop for any defense. He was safe with the football all season and did a great job of completing passes, ending his junior season last fall with a .731 completion %. He got the ball out quickly, but knew how to push the ball downfield as well. Singleton was 152/208 on the year for 2,168 yards and 21 touchdown tosses.
