His name is Eduardo Contrentras.
Chances are you don’t recognize the name. And for good reason, as Contrentras and his family didn’t move to Albuquerque from Florida until last summer and he didn’t play football for Albuquerque High in the fall.
But he does plan to run track this spring and play football for the Bulldogs in 2022, and he recently joined the New Mexico Legacy 7-on-7 travel team.
One key attribute Contrentras, a rising senior, will bring to Albuquerque High is speed.
He told Prep Redzone New Mexico during a recent Legacy practice in preparation for this weekend’s trip to Dallas that he has run the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, making him a solid contender for our ‘King of Speed’ crown to be awarded in June following the state track meet.
“That’s what I’ve been pretty much known for, my speed,” Contrentras said.
His ideal position is slot receiver, Contrentras said. He is currently participating in off-season workouts with the Bulldogs.
Legacy heads to Dallas: New Mexico Legacy will make the nine-hour trip to the Dallas Metroplex region this weekend for the ‘Battle Dallas’ Tournament at Meadow Creek Park in De Soto, TX, hometown of Legacy coach Ramar Watson. Legacy will depart early Friday morning.
