This past weekend, numerous players from all across the country flocked to the plains for the Tigers’ 2022 Junior Day. The state of Georgia was well represented, which is not surprising when you look at recent successes Auburn has had in Georgia. Players like Tank Bigsby, Owen Pappoe, Darius Slayton, Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson, and numerous other Georgia natives played their college ball at Auburn.
Here, we take a look at some of the Georgia prospects that spent their weekend on the plains.
[player_tooltip player_id="34064" first="Kayden" last="McDonald"] | 2023 | DT | 6’3 310 | North Gwinnett
McDonald, ranked as a top 5 defensive lineman in the state by Prep Redzone, is one of the more sought-after defensive tackle prospects in the country. Last season, McDonald put up a mesmerizing 20 sacks and 62 TFLs on the season. His efforts in 2021 have caused his recruitment to take off in recent months. Schools like Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, and USC have offered McDonald. McDonald’s size alone can collapse the pocket, but his toolbox full of pass-rushing moves make him almost impossible to block. The added fact that he is extremely explosive and athletic at 300 pounds is the cherry on top.

Cornelius Heard Jr | 2024 | S | 6’0 200 | Woodward Academy
Heard hails from the same high school as Auburn freshman RB [player_tooltip player_id="95160" first="Damari" last="Alston"], so the connections to Auburn are there. The speedy Sophomore started all of last season for Woodward Academy, and is already receiving plenty of major PO5 interests on the trail. Prior to his Auburn visit, Heard recently made stops at Florida State, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech. Heard is a fast and physical safety prospect that has great man coverage and ball skills. Is projected at safety, but he has the tools to play anywhere in the defensive backfield. Nationally, Heard should explode onto the recruiting scene pretty soon.

Marcellius Pulliam | 2023 | LB | 6’3 215 | Sandy Creek
Pulliam has seen his recruitment pick up in a huge way over the month of March. His month started off with an offer from Virginia Tech, then later Miami and Missouri jumped in the boat. He has also visited Clemson and Mississippi State to go along with Auburn. Pulliam is an explosive and hard-hitting LB prospect with some range. Is an extremely effective blitzer from the inside and can win 1 on 1’s against offensive linemen with his strength. He already has impressive size at 6’3 215, but he has even more room to grow out and maximize his potential. Pulliam has seen his stock steadily climbing recently, and that shouldn’t change anytime soon.

[player_tooltip player_id="133983" first="TJ" last="Searcy"] | 2023 | DL | 6’5 260 | Upson-Lee
This massive DL prospect not only visited Auburn this weekend, but he also left with an offer from the Tigers. To go along with Auburn, Searcy has also added recent offers from Vanderbilt, Clemson, Tennessee, and Florida. At 6’5 260, Searcy has the size that intrigues numerous colleges at the PO5 level. That size gives him some nice length in the middle of your defense. To go along with his size, he is also an incredible athlete with a basketball background. The combination of size and speed is the best way to spot an elite prospect, and Searcy fits that mold.

Michael Daughtery | 2023 | S | 6'1 180 | Grayson
Daughtery is widely considered as one of the best S prospects in the entire country. Here at Prep Redzone, Daughtery is ranked as the 3rd best player in the state of Georgia. Daughtery is an unbelievably fast player that has a knack for getting to the ball quickly. His ability to come downfield projects better at safety, but his length could project out at CB as well. Some other schools involved with Daughtery include Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU. Expect Daughtery to take plenty of more visits before making a decision.
