Continue ReadingBuzz from Mississippi’s surrounding 7v7 athletes is continually assisting in the rising popularity of the 7v7 circuit within the magnolia state. Mississippi HS football prospects are hungry and looking to get better at their respective positions, during this off-season. The development of local 7v7 squads allows prospects to do that, while advancing their recruitment. Whether it is through 7v7 tournaments, showcases, or various other events, this new wave of recruiting allows kids to take their recruiting by the reigns. Student-athletes are able to gain exposure by making their name relevant when participating in a variation of off-season events. You may have heard the saying that coaches will always find kids who can really play ball. With that being said, 7v7 is yet another way for these student-athletes to become easily accessible to those recruiting them. The goal of this series is to highlight those athletes and shine a spotlight on players that catch my eye during this 7v7 tournament season.
Jordan McKnight Ι 2023 WR Ι Northside HS Ι MS Speed 7v7
Standing at 6’4 205lbs, Jordan McKnight is you’re prototypical “go up and get it” wideout. The soon to be senior has reliable hands and excels at high pointing 50/50 balls over defenders. Though Jordan is long and rangy, he has a decent amount of speed and athleticism. He also possesses the ability to create separation on his releases. This kid has strong hands that allows him to pluck the ball out of the air at the catch point. The combination of all of these factors makes Jordan a mismatch for most HS defensive backs. Not to mention, he is a two way player who receives a fair amount of defensive snaps at safety as well. Jordan McKnight is going to turn heads this fall. He will play ball on the next level, and be a dominating force for Northside’s offense!
Sentario Willis Ι 2023 ATH Ι Hazlehurst HS Ι MS Dawgs United 7v7
Mr. Willis is a ball-hawking corner back who seems like he is always located in the right place at the right time. Sentario’s exceptional ball skills allow him to play his position with admirable instinctual technique. He is a rangy kid that seems to always make plays all over the field. In only 8 games last season, Sentario Willis accounted for over 7 interceptions for Hazlehurst’s defense. Not only that, his tape also displays that he can be productive in assisting in run support. Willis is affective at shedding or avoiding blocks, depending on the situation, to make sure tackles on ball carriers. This kid is a corner that has the type of game that allows him to virtually shut down a whole side of the defensive backfield. Mr. Willis has received several JuCo offers. I’m sure more schools will join in following his recruiting trail. Sentario excels in track and basketball as well, so there is no doubt that this is will not be the last time you will hear his name!
Kiandre Terry Ι 2024 WR Ι Terry HS Ι Devoted Dreamers
Terry High School’s Kiandre Terry is a young wideout that is a true technician in all aspects of the position. His slight build allows him to get in and out of breaks smoothly and run crisp and decisive routes. Kiandre has a pretty impressive catch radius for his size, and he tracks the football well with his eyes in the air. He often times uses his athleticism to contort his body and complete catches with extreme levels of difficulty. As a Sophomore, Kiandre was about 5’11 160lbs, so as times goes on he will fill out into his full frame. Mr. Terry recently had an exceptional outing for his 7v7 squad, the Devoted Dreamers, this past weekend. He was responsible for several eye-catching grabs and was pivotal to his teams success. Kiandre will have a breakout season this fall as a Junior. Be on the lookout for this 2024 student-athlete.
