Continue ReadingMarch 26th-27th Maryland will kick off the action packed 7on7 season with Pylon 7on7 Washington, DC. 7on7 is a great way to evaluate quarterbacks passing and field reading ability, receivers route running, ball skills and elusiveness after the catch, and defensive players man to man, zone coverage and range. Players from every division or league, WCAC down to 1A, match up against one another, giving us the rare opportunity to see top ranked recruits battle head-to-head in a real speed setting. It also gives us the opportunity to watch sleeper and watch list athletes compete against the names that lead the rankings. Some highly credible tournaments littered with talent to visit this offseason are listed at the bottom of this article. Let’s take a look at who we expect to tear up the 7on7 circuit this offseason…
Ray Moore Ray Moore 6'5" | 170 lbs | QB Mervo | 2024 State MD – East Coast Volt
Moore is no stranger to the 7on7 circuit as he lit up the off season and even won MVP at Pylon – New Jersey in 2021. Moore attended the Avalon School who played against some of the top programs on the east coast. Moore has recently transferred to 2022 4A State Champs Mervo High School, where I expect this 6’4 2024 QB prodigy to make an immediate impact.

Tristan Halley – 1Motion Elite – Poly Highschool
In 2022 Halley solidified himself as one of the impact players on the Poly team, contributing on offense at receiver, on defense at safety, and on special teams as a return man. At 6’1 175lbs he’s at good size for any skill position and his athleticism jumps out at you. It will be entertaining to watch Halley fall into his role as a go to receiver this offseason.

Jahmari Powell – 1Motion Elite – Baltimore City College Highschool
Powell is a highly anticipated athlete to see compete this off-season. This 6’2 180+ pound sophomore athlete made a name for himself with an impressive 2022 season. He showed glimpses of dominance and how dangerous he can be in the receiving and run game from the wildcat formation. With Quavel Thornton Quavel Thornton 5'8" | 165 lbs | WR City | 2022 State MD off to Tennesse Tech, Powell is expected to fall into the leading receiver for the City Knights. Keep an eye on this kid as he competes against DB’s from different leagues and competition levels at Pylon DC.

Corey Jones – Level82- Perry Hall
Jones emerged as a Y.A.C threat in his junior year showing how dynamic of a player he can be in the open field and return game. What sticks out about Jones’s game is his speed in the open field. Earlier this year he competed at the National Combine at the All-American bowl in Texas and showed some really good glimpses of his talent. Look for Jones to be a key player in Level82’s tournaments this off-season.

Jaylen Green Jaylen Green 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Surrattsville | 2023 State MD – 97Octane
Offers: Allen University
Green is the #4 WR in the state currently and has the best film from his 2022 season. At this rate he’s projected to climb the rankings even more with strong performances at camps. He holds some very impressive stats with 67 receptions 1200+ yards and 20 touchdowns. At 6’3 190 he imposes his will on DB’s, his film speaks for itself, he’s the real deal. With his strong 2022 performances he earned All-County Player of the Year.

Oliver Redd Jr Oliver Redd Jr 5'8" | 180 lbs | WR Milford Mill | 2024 State MD – East Coast Volt
Redd is a very twitchy WR from the defending MIAA “A” Conference Champs the Calvert Hall Cardinals. Last off-season he competed in “The Show by NEXTGEN” at IMG Academy where he played a big part in winning the 15U 7on7 championship with top prospects from across the nation. Redd is still a very young athlete and to be playing at such a high level so early is a huge indicator. We can’t wait to see how he develops over the next few seasons but going into this off-seasons events stay on the lookout for his sharp routes and crafty moves.

Tariq Hayer Tariq Hayer 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB St. Johns | 2025 State MD – 97Octane
Hayer is another young athlete who is showing potential to have a great sophomore season. He is an aggressive DB with size, already 6’1 175lbs. I had the opportunity to see Tariq compete at the 1% Showcase earlier this year in MD where he held his own against older prospects. Hayen helped lead St. Mary’s Ryken to a WCAC Championship over Carrol who has one of the best receiving duos in the state.

Khalil Wilkins Khalil Wilkins 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Henry A. Wise | 2024 State MD – Lab7v7
Offers: Boston College, Maryland
6’4 190 Ibs , 3.6 gpa, 2021 DCIAA Championship MVP, if you’re an opponent and don’t know his name you’re in trouble, if you’re a scout and he isn’t on your prospect board for DMV Quarterbacks, start over. Through the air he’s a very polished passer and dynamic on the ground. I had the opportunity to see Wilkins throw at a private event in late January and he is as advertised. He can put the ball about anywhere on the field and has the touch to squeeze the ball into tight gaps on crossing routes. He’s a receiver’s best friend when it comes to 1on1 deep balls, he’ll let it fly and put it in the best spot for his receiver. We will be keeping an eye on this 2024 prospect as his recruiting should skyrocket after this off-season.

Joseph Tabe Joseph Tabe 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Springbrook | 2023 State MD – Lab7v7
Quick and twitchy slot receiver, he’s a big play waiting to happen if he has some wiggle room. He really drew attention at the QBLab Showcase earlier this year. Tabe has violent foot fire and clean hard routes making him tough to defend, especially in space.
Maxwell Moss Maxwell Moss 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Archbishop Spalding | 2023 State MD
Strong and very fast. Shows dominance and physicality at the line of scrimmage. Moss will be a key component of Spalding’s offense this year.
This was a fun and challenging season for me physically and mentally. I would like to thank everyone for their support. The one thing i’ve taken from this past season is stay Hungry. We coming back better next year – https://t.co/l6sVbItP1I

Anthony Smith Anthony Smith 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Dundalk | 2025 MD
2025 WR with length and hands. He has shown big play ability over this short off season so far at camps and showcases. Smith played varsity as a freshman and contributed a lot for the Orangemen, expect Smith to develop into a go to receiver very soon.
