Ferrell’s Notes: The Top Returners in Passing Yardage from MD

Here we will look at some of the top returning gunslingers in the state of Maryland. These are the leading returners in passing yardage and quarterback ratings with over 100 passing attempts. <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-24525" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/redzone/uploads/2020/06/Generic-Featured-Image-4-300x187.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="187" /> &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="246754" first="Aiden" last="Dixon"] | 5’11’’ 185 lbs | Fallston High School | Class of 2023 Dixon , who is the 3rd ranked QB in the state, is leading all returning passers with 2,549 yards. He completed 145 passes on 231 attempts for 62 percent, and leads all returning Quarterbacks with 26 touchdowns. He also has the highest Quarterback Rating among returners with 125. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="246840" first="Kendell" last="Anderson"] | 6’3’’ 185 lbs | Montgomery Blair High School | Class of 2023 <span style="font-size: 1rem;">Anderson is the 2nd ranked Quarterback in the state of Maryland and was named All State, 1st Team All County, and All Met. He threw for 2,277 passing yards and completed 114 of his passes on 207 attempts (55%). The Blair junior QB threw for 21 touchdowns and had only 7 interceptions to finish with a Quarterback Rating of 107.1.</span> &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="180893" first="Kevin" last="O’Connor"] | 6’4’’ 215 lbs | Easton High School | Class of 2023 O’Connor is receiving plenty of attention for his work done on the defensive side of the ball. He is currently ranked the 3rd Athlete and 24th overall player in the state. O’Connor was also named to the 1st Team All Combine Team for the All American Bowl as a Linebacker, and earned 1st Team North Bayside All Conference for Basketball. Even with all of his defensive accolades, the Easton junior is one of the top returning passers in the state. He passed for 1,869, was 127/253, completed 50% of his passes, threw for 17 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and had a QB rating of 87.2. He currently holds offers from Navy, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and ODU. &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 1rem;">[player_tooltip player_id="90649" first="Noah" last="Brannock"] | 6’ 205 lbs | Calvert Hall College High School | Class of 2023</span> Brannock is the top ranked Quarterback in the state and led Calvert Hall to the MIAA A Conference Championship this past fall. He threw for 1,857 passing yards, was 60 percent accurate completing 116 of his passes on 193 attempts. Brannock is 2nd in the state among returning QBs in touchdowns (25), and QB rating. (108.1). The Cardinals signal caller earned 1st Team All Metro and 1st Team All MIAA Conference honors. Noah, a 4.0 GPA student, has offers from Georgetown and Fordham. <span style="font-size: 1rem;"> [player_tooltip player_id="246762" first="Stevie" last="Oursler"] | 6’ 170 lbs | Calvert High School | Class of 2023</span> Oursler played in one of the most "pass friendly" offenses in the state. Leading all returning Quarterbacks in passing attempts (268), he completed 137 of them for 51 percent. The Calvert junior QB threw for 1,735 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. Oursler finished with a QBR a little under 70, but I expect to see that increase next year as he grows within the offensive scheme. <span style="font-size: 1rem;"> [player_tooltip player_id="249088" first="Winston" last="Watkins"] | 6’6’’ 225 lbs | Mount Saint Joseph | Class of 2024</span> Watkins is the only sophomore on the list, one of the top returning passing leaders, and the 1st in passing yardage among the class of 2024. He is the 2nd ranked Quarterback and the 14th overall prospect in the state of Maryland. He threw for 1,612 yards, completed 106 of his passes on 201 attempts for 52 percent.  He threw for 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions to finish with a Quarterback rating of 94.0. Not to be out done by his work on the field, he also is equally productive in the classroom with a 4.1 gpa.
