The Elite Football Combine is one of the top events in Missouri every year and this year’s event, held on March 12 at the Lou Fusz indoor facility in Earth City, did not disappoint.
We will be taking a look at some the top performers at the event divided by class year, positions and home state.

Ahlbrand, who measured in at 6-feet-1 1/2 inches and 190 pounds, had a breakout junior season in leading the Mustangs to a 9-2 record. He completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,835 yards with 24 touchdowns against six interceptions. He also ran for 215 yards and nine scores.
Ahlbrand recorded a 4.89 40-yard dash along with a pro-agility time of 4.44 seconds, numbers that show that he’s got athleticism to go along with his passing ability and size. He’s definitely a player to watch going into his senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="177543" first="Malious" last="Cain"], Vashon
It was easy to notice Cain because of his impressive size for the position. He checked in at 6-3 1/2 and 196 pounds and then recorded a pro-agility time of 4.53 seconds, a broad jump of 9 feet, a vertical leap of 28 inches and a powerball toss of 41 feet.
Cain led Vashon to a 9-2 record last season while completing 50 percent of his passes (75 of 150) for 1,160 yards, with 20 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He added 58 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id="300280" first="Hayden" last="Carroll"], Capital City
Carroll is a long and lanky quarterback who measured in at 6-6 and 180 pounds and throws a nice ball. He recorded a 5.07 40-yard dash time, a 4.6 pro-agility and a vertical leap of 31 inches.
We couldn’t find any statistics for Carroll or Capital City, which went 1-9 last fall, but he is an intriguing prospect to follow with his size and touch.

[player_tooltip player_id="103784" first="Drake" last="Faust"], Chaminade
Faust, who measured in at 6-0 and 165 pounds, recorded a 4.9 40, a 4.28 pro-agility, a vertical leap of 28 inches and a broad jump of 8-7.
He will be a player to keep an eye on this fall as a senior after completing 50 percent of his passes (53 of 107) for 883 yards, with eight touchdowns and three interceptions, and running for 45 yards and one score as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id="197576" first="Gerard" last="Grewe"], Priory
Grewe (pictured above) is a quarterback we are really high on after tracking his breakout junior campaign and have him currently ranked as the second-best quarterback prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2023.
He completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,339 yards, with 29 touchdowns against seven interceptions. He also rushed for 1,339 yards and 18 touchdowns and averaged 7.2 yards per carry.
At the Elite Combine, Grewe measured in at 6-3 and 193 pounds, ran a 4.99 40 and 4.47 pro-agility, recorded a powerball toss of 38 feet 11 inches, a broad jump of 8-10 and a vertical of 31 inches.

[player_tooltip player_id="37715" first="Owen" last="Merrell"], Holt
Merrell was thrust into the spotlight for Holt during the playoffs when he was called upon to lead the team after the team’s starting quarterback was lost to injury in the Class 5 semifinals.
A 5-10, 205-pounder, Merrell completed 63 percent of his passes (24 of 38) for 222 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception, in the semifinals and championship game against Webb City, a 26-21 defeat after a late comeback attempt came up short. Merrell’s two touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter as he rallied and gave his team a chance to win.
Merrell, who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries during his junior season and had 28 tackles and one sack as a linebacker, put up decent numbers at the Elite Combine. He ran a 4.9 40 and a 4.19 pro-agility, recorded a powerball toss of 37-8, a broad jump of 9 feet and a vertical leap of 28 inches.
Merrell is an intriguing prospect who could end up playing quarterback, running back, linebacker or defensive back in college.

[player_tooltip player_id="308364" first="Jace" last="Peterson"], Eureka
Peterson, who measured in at just under 6-feet and 155 pounds, turned in one of the top performances at the Elite Combine with his testing numbers.
He ran the 40 in 4.69 seconds, recorded a broad jump of 10-2 and a vertical leap of 33 inches — all marks that placed him among the top performers on the day. He also recorded a 4.47 pro-agility and a powerball toss of 38-9.
Peterson didn’t post any stats on the varsity level during his junior season and his most recent highlights on HUDL (below) are from playing lower-level football as a sophomore.
The Wildcats are graduating a senior quarterback who threw for 1,837 yards and 18 touchdowns and if Peterson wins the starting job this fall he could be one of the most dynamic athletes at the position in the state of Missouri.
