While living and training all over the state of Texas I have had the privilege of being able to see a plethora of talented student athletes up close.

The defenders listed below are some of the most talented and hardest to block in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="60868" first="David" last="Hicks"] - Allen High school - Class of 2023

The 6’4 270 pound five-star defender has made his presence felt around the country with his play this past fall.

David has an interesting blend of speed, power and pass-rush savvy.

He has been unblockable at the few camps that I’ve seen him take reps at so far. He has offers from everywhere in the country and his body type reminds me a lot of NFL all-pro defender Carl Lawson. He has a ton of potential and is a talent to keep an eye on.

[player_tooltip player_id="60867" first="Kaleb" last="James"] - Mansfield High school - Class of 2023

The 6’5 260 pound run-stuffing defender put some great reps on tape last fall and looks to capitalize on that momentum this summer. He’s long, lean, active athlete that has good change of direction skills. He impressed me with his ability to hold up at the point of attack and ability to split double teams. He is committed to play for Coach Sam Pittman next fall at the University of Arkansas.

[player_tooltip player_id="270019" first="Colin" last="Simmons"] - Duncanville High school- Class of 2024

Colin is an explosive five-star athlete out of Duncanville High School. The shifty defender is tough against the run and a mismatch in pass protection versus the average high school tackle. He has scholarship offers from virtually everywhere in the country and still has room to grow into his long frame.

His growth and leadership in the weight room this summer will be critical in helping him and the Reginald Samples coached Duncanville Panthers get back in contention for a state championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="60876" first="Isaiah" last="Crawford"] - Post High school - Class of 2023

Isaiah is a long and twitchy defender that has a bevy of moves and was very impressive on tape last fall. The 6’4 defender is committed to play for Coach McGuire at Texas Tech and is primed to be a early contributor. He continues to develop his body in the weight room. I’m excited to see how he competes on the summer camp circuit and how that carries over to the fall.

[player_tooltip player_id="262710" first="Markis" last="Deal"] - Naaman Forest High School- Class of 2023

Markis is a strong and rangy athlete that has shown he can play either offensive tackle or defensive end at an All-American level. He has a great get off, good instincts, and has shown the ability to win rushes with his feet and hands. He has the luxury of being talented enough to get it done on both sides of the ball but can change the flow of the game as a defender. His ability to unlock his hips at the point of attack is rare to find at his age.
