The amount of great teams that play head to head matchups every year go down in history. A lot of these schools have some amazing offenses and players. The Offenses in the east lean more on talent and have everything from pocket passing QBs and fast receivers and power running backs. The Speed and strength is the main contributor to the domination of some schools like Omaha North, Bellevue West, Skutt and Millard South. Here are some of my favorite Offensive players from Eastern Nebraska that can have an impact on the 2022 season.
QB Zane Flores Zane Flores 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Gretna | 2023 State NE Gretna Class of 2023
Zane is a QB I got to see a lot of this season. He did great having one of the best arms in Nebraska. Last year he was second in the state in passing yards with 2,885 yards. He only threw 7 interceptions all season and had thrown 26 total touchdowns. His leadership and skill lead the Dragons all the way to the state championship. In his total career Flores has thrown for a total of 6,046 yards and 51 touchdowns.
QB Trey Bird Trey Bird 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Bennington | 2023 State NE Bennington Class of 2023
Trey helped lead the Bennington Badgers all the way to Class B State for his first year on varsity Trey went off. He threw for 2,181 yards on 117 completions with a 64% completion percentage with 24 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Considering the big run scheme the Badgers offense had last year Trey is going to be one of the best in the state going into the 2022-2023 season.
QB Daeshawn Tolbert Omaha South Class of 2023
Even though the Omaha South Packers didn’t have the season they wanted last year they are lead by a great QB who will be able to push the Packers further and help them compete. Last Season Daeshawn had 1,397 yards and 13 touchdowns. In my opinion his most important stat is 174.6 yards a game which is solid and with that amount of yards Tolbert can help the packers get on their feet and compete next season.
RB Te’Shaun Porter Te’Shaun Porter 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Omaha North | 2023 State NE Omaha North
Te’Shaun is the definition of a power back, he lowers the soldier and never stops bulldozing offenses. Last season Porter had a total of 1,610 yards averaging 6.1 yards per carry scoring 18 total touchdowns. His impact will grow going into the 2022 season and I think he will be able to pass the 2,000 yard mark.
RB Bayler Poston Bayler Poston 5'8" | 180 lbs | RB Nebraska City | 2023 State NE Nebraska City Class of 2023
Bayler doesn’t give up once he has the ball he has moves and can spin and push lowering his shoulder and then takes off like a rocket. Bayler averaged around 9.5 yards per carry totaling 1,248 yards and 17 touchdowns. Poston is an important part of the Pioneer’s offense and will be something to look out for this fall.
WR Joe Roll Joe Roll 5'10" | 175 lbs | WR Gretna | 2023 State NE Gretna Class of 2023
Joe had an impact on the Dragons offense last year. He had 877 yards in receiving along with 8 touchdowns. Joe only had 53 receptions making him have 16.5 yards per catch. With Flores under center Joe and the Dragons have another shot to be at the top of Class A.
WR Kade McIntyre Kade McIntyre 6'4" | 195 lbs | ATH Archbishop Bergan | 2023 State NE ArchBishop Bergan Class of 2023
I wrote about Kade a few times last year and he really did impress. He totaled 873 yards on only 37 catches. Averaging 23.6 yards per catch. Kade’s speed and ability to shed tackles leaving nothing but green all the way to the endzone.
