The Community Film Room is an opportunity to highlight several unranked prospects from around the state that could be potential additions in future class ranking updates. The search for talent is never ending, and this could be a chance for recruiters to discover some players that aren’t on their radars yet.
In this first piece we highlight a group of players that consists of a trio of seniors to be, a rising lineman from the Class of ’24, and an intriguing prospect from the Class of ’25. Be sure to follow along in this series as we’ll continue to feature never before seen prospects.
Jake Fischer – Kingman, 5’11”, 215, ATH, Class of ’23
Starting us off in this first Community Film Room is Jake Fischer out of Kingman, KS. Fischer is an interesting prospect that brings some physicality to the table. Believe it or not, Fischer was a 2A All-State Honorable Mention selection for his play at defensive tackle in 2021. Being undersized in the trenches can be a challenge, but when you have the aggressiveness of this young man, it can help level the playing field. He brings that same intensity to offense, as he is a bruising fullback that runs with some power. Fischer has already made some noise heading into the ’22 season, as he recently finished first in bench press at Sharp Performance Combines with 18 reps of 225 pounds.
Augustus Thuston Augustus Thuston 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Chanute | 2024 State KS – Chanute, 6’5”, 280, OL, Class of ’24
The Blue Comets’ football program is becoming one of the most underrated talent factories in the state. Our rankings already has multiple Chanute players in them, and Thuston is looking to be yet another Blue Comet to make it in. He shined during his sophmore year, as he took home 1st Team All-SEK League honors for his play at right tackle. Thuston has the makeup of a potential D-I offensive linemen, and not just because of his size. There aren’t many sophomores in the state with his footwork and awareness. He’s a prospect with a very high ceiling, and could possibly earn some offers as a junior.

RJ Dominick – Spring Hill, 6’4”, 210, LB, Class of ’23
Dominick is a rangy outside linebacker prospect that could turn some heads as a senior. The overall team success of the Broncos overshadowed his own, but Dominick played well during the ’21 season. He racked up 43 total tackles on the year, and he’ll be one of the top returning defenders for Spring Hill this fall. Dominick isn’t exactly a dominant force off the edge, but he plays his role well in the Broncos’ defensive scheme. He does a great job of setting the edge, and can quickly identify ball carriers. RJ should see his role expand this year as the Broncos graduate some key defenders from this past season.

Cayden Scheuerman – Great Bend, 6’0”, 180, ATH, Class of ’23
There hasn’t been much news out of Great Bend the past few seasons, but Scheuerman is looking to become the first player from the Panthers’ program to crack the rankings. He’s an athletic prospect that can be plugged into multiple positions. During the ’21 season he served as the starting quarterback and also played in the Panthers’ secondary. Scheuerman is good at throwing quick game and can squeeze the ball into tight windows on RPO plays. The Panthers’ coaching staff likes to get him out into space on sprint out throws as well. His stock should be on the rise after his standout day at Sharp Performance Combines, where he posted a 4.66 40 and nearly hit a 34-inch vertical.

Brock Summers – Hays, 5’8”, 165, ATH, Class of ’25
Closing out this first Community Film Room is a freshman out of Hays that is looking to earn some playing time at the varsity level this year. While Summers may not have any film yet, this clip is just a glimpse of the potential he has. Not many freshmen at his body weight are hitting eight reps of 225 pounds on bench press. He already has an athletic frame at 5-foot-8-inches and weighing 165 pounds. Plus, given the Indians’ recent track record for developing their players; Summers could turn into a stud. He’ll be a prospect to keep an eye on through the course of this offseason and the ’22 campaign.
