Big 33 Classic Team Maryland Preview (Offense)

The Big 33 Classic is slated to take place on May 30th. Maryland is on a 2-year losing streak coming off of 2 shutouts. This Maryland team has the talent to change that. These are some of the standouts from the offense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="90508" first="Jayden" last="Sauray"] (2022) | 6’0 QB | Wise</strong> Sauray is a do it all type of quarterback. He is comfortable being a traditional drop-back pocket passer. He is also able to be a dual-threat quarterback. He is a very accurate passer inside the pocket. He shows great touch on throws downfield. He also has enough athleticism to extend plays and even make plays with his legs. Sauray is the best quarterback in the state and will likely be tasked with leading this Maryland offense. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="90613" first="Dadrian" last="Carter-Williams"] (2022) | 5’9 RB | Wise</strong> Carter-Williams will reunite with Sauray to lead Team Maryland’s offense. He is a dynamic ball carrier. He has great vision and does a great job of following his blocks. He is a good one cut back and seems to always hit the right hole. In open space, he is extremely dangerous as he is elusive and is able to make guys miss. He also runs hard and is able to break weak tackles. Carter-Williams will likely lead this backfield in touches and yards. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244005" first="Kylish" last="Hicks"] (2022) | 6’1 WR | Mervo </strong> Hicks is a dangerous deep threat. He has great speed and uses it to his advantage as he does a great job of getting behind the defense. He is not only a speedy receiver but he also has great ball skills. He is good in 50/50 ball situations as he does a great job of coming down with contested balls. Look for Team Maryland to take some shots downfield with Hicks. <strong>Okeyo Ayungo (2022) | 6’0 WR | Rockville</strong> Ayungo is a true offensive weapon. He is an athlete that can line up out wide, in the slot, and even in the backfield at times. He is the most dangerous when he is in open space and can take passes at or behind the line of scrimmage and make them big gains. He is also a good route runner and does a great job of getting himself open. He also has strong hands with a large catch radius which makes him a quarterback’s dream. Ayungo has the ability to make some highlights happen. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="175168" first="Josh" last="Jennings"] (2022) | 6’5 TE | Good Counsel </strong> Jennings is a very physical tight end. He is a tight end that can both block and be a receiving threat. He is a very physical run blocker. He is oftentimes driving defenders off the ball. He is also a very physical receiver as he uses his size to wall defenders off. He is also a receiving threat in the end zone. Jennings is a player that will help handle a tough Pennsylvania defensive front. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="164539" first="Jim" last="Fitzgerald"] (2022) | 6’7 T | Archbishop Spalding </strong> Fitzgerald is an offensive tackle with NFL size. He is a violent blocker. He is a physical run blocker that uses his size and strength. He seems to overpower smaller defenders. He is also athletic enough to get to the second level and make blocks downfield. He needs to improve on his pad level and hand placement at the next level but he is a physical specimen. Fitzgerald will look to use his size to dominate especially in the run game. <strong>Spencer Adams (2022) | 6’3 T | Northwest</strong> Adams is a dominant offensive tackle. In the run game, he is physical and drives defenders off the ball. He does a great job with his hand positioning as he always seems to get inside position. He is also very mobile for his size and is able to pull outside and get downfield and block at the second level. He also has good feet in pass protection and does a good job of keeping quarterbacks clean. Adams will be key in keeping Pennyslvania’s front at bay.
