Let’s take a closer look at some of the top defensive linemen, and soon to be Seniors, who're projected to have big seasons in 2022.
2023 6’6 255 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] – DeMatha
[player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] is the #1 ranked defensive player in the 2023 class on Prep Red-Zone. He also already has elite power five conference offers from schools like Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, and Virginia. Moore is the leader of the DeMatha Stags’ defense, and he really sets the tempo on every single play. He brings 110% effort and intensity on every snap, and he constantly breaches the offensive backfield. [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] is a mismatch for any offensive lineman at the high school level, and that even includes the best of the best in the WCAC conference in which he competes. [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] has next level skills, and his ceiling could most certainly extend beyond the college game. If you’re a scout and you do not know the name [player_tooltip player_id="90642" first="Jason" last="Moore"] then learn it quickly. He’s going to make a massive impact at the D1 level.

2023 6’5 205 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="260126" first="Dylan" last="Gooden"] – Good Counsel
If you’re looking for a defensive lineman that is particularly effective on the edge who can contain all ball carriers then look no further than [player_tooltip player_id="260126" first="Dylan" last="Gooden"]. The four star recruit is listed on the ESPN 300 rankings for his class, and he has already received power five conference offers from schools like LSU, Penn State, USC, and Duke. Gooden possesses a ton of skill, and he’s able to go through and around offensive linemen with a variety of rushing attack moves that he has mastered over the years. As a Senior, [player_tooltip player_id="260126" first="Dylan" last="Gooden"] will wreak havoc on WCAC offensive lines, and there’s a strong chance that he will help lead this Falcons team to a WCAC Championship game. [player_tooltip player_id="260126" first="Dylan" last="Gooden"] is an elite prospect with a very high ceiling, and all scouts must watch him compete this Fall.

2023 6’6 230 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="146654" first="Neeo" last="Avery"] – Good Counsel
The recent Penn State commit, [player_tooltip player_id="146654" first="Neeo" last="Avery"], can do it all on the football field, but he especially thrives on the defensive line. His size and power both make him a one on one nightmare, and he also possesses blazing speed for his towering 6’6 build. The Good Counsel defensive line is absolutely loaded with talent coming into 2022, and [player_tooltip player_id="146654" first="Neeo" last="Avery"] is a member of that dominant d-line which hopes to reach the WCAC finals yet again this Fall. It’s important to note that Avery is so athletic and football savvy that the Falcons’ coaching staff initially played him at quarterback where he had flashes of greatness. Now that [player_tooltip player_id="249086" first="Frankie" last="Weaver"] has stepped into the starting QB role, [player_tooltip player_id="146654" first="Neeo" last="Avery"] can now focus solely on his defensive line responsibilities without the uncertainty of having to play two ways looming in the back of his mind. [player_tooltip player_id="146654" first="Neeo" last="Avery"] is in a great position to have an incredible season for Good Counsel this year, and Penn State’s entire program should be ecstatic about his commitment.

2023 6’4 225 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="90652" first="Mason" last="Robinson"] – McDonogh
[player_tooltip player_id="90652" first="Mason" last="Robinson"] is an unbelievably talented defensive end who relentlessly pursues the ball on every play. He was recently invited to the Under Armour All-American Camp Series in Baltimore on March 27, and, based on my assessments, he will most certainly be selected as an Under Armour All-American. When you watch Robinson play, his size and closing speed both really stand out and they also make him a huge mismatch for any offensive lineman at this level. He already has power five conference offers from The University of Miami, Michigan, Tennessee, and Duke to name a few. His skillset will translate immensely well at the next level, and scouts nationwide must tune in to watch [player_tooltip player_id="90652" first="Mason" last="Robinson"] play this Fall.

2023 6’5 240 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="90643" first="Dashawn" last="Womack"] – St. Frances Academy
Da’Shawn Womack is coming off of a huge season, and there’s no doubt in my mind that 2022 will be an even bigger year for him. Womack is a turnover terror, because he causes so many forced turnovers, and he is an absolute nightmare for ball carriers. He deflects passes, and, even when he doesn’t touch the ball, he always impacts the play. He has offers from LSU, NC State, West Virginia, Louisville and many others. Da’Shawn Womack will make an extremely positive impact on any program that he chooses to attend, and if scouts have not yet watched him play then they simply must in 2022. Womack is in a premier position to have another breakout season at St. Frances Academy this Fall.
