2024 Under-the-Radar Defensive Backs

With football increasingly becoming a passing game, it is important to have defensive back stalwarts who can shut down the opposing passing-attack. The Class of 2024 has several outstanding defensive back prospects who are ready to turn heads this upcoming year. [player_tooltip player_id="284543" first="Hudauri" last="Hines"], 6’1, 185 pounds, Franklin Central [player_tooltip player_id="284543" first="Hudauri" last="Hines"] is a physical corner for Franklin Central who can make life difficult for the entire offense. Hines is a very good tackler and run stopper. He is terrific at coming down to make the play. In coverage, Hines has outstanding ball skills. He does well to get himself in position to make a play on the ball and break up the pass. His timing for when he makes his move on the ball is spot-on. [player_tooltip player_id="236811" first="Toreeq" last="Oyesigi"], 6’1, 185 pounds, Ben Davis [player_tooltip player_id="236811" first="Toreeq" last="Oyesigi"]’s 2021 varsity season was limited to just five games. But in that span, he showed that he has a lot to build on going into his junior season. As a sophomore, Oyesigi recorded seven total tackles, five solo. He also defended against two passes. [player_tooltip player_id="236811" first="Toreeq" last="Oyesigi"] has put himself in a good position at Ben Davis. Look for Oyesigi to have a breakout season this year. [player_tooltip player_id="109609" first="Eli" last="Quasebarth"], 5’10, 160 pounds, North White As a cornerback and a quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id="109609" first="Eli" last="Quasebarth"] has the responsibility of leading his team’s passing-game and shutting down that of their opponents. As a quarterback, White is an athletic, playmaking QB. He can use his legs effectively, but he still looks to make things happen with his arm. In 2021, Quasebarth threw for 109/250 for 1,541 passing yards with 13 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Quasebarth ran 231 times for just under 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns. Defensively, Quasebarth was a tackling machine who made plays all over the field. He registered 133 total tackles with seven tackles-for-loss. Quasebarth displayed his ability to take the ball away by recording four interceptions and one forced fumble. [player_tooltip player_id="189138" first="Tyler" last="Torbeson"], 6’1, 140 pounds, Boone Grove [player_tooltip player_id="189138" first="Tyler" last="Torbeson"] made plays all over the field for Boone Grove. Torbeson is officially listed as an outside linebacker, but he can make plays both at the line-of-scrimmage and in coverage. Last year, Torbeson posted 48 total tackles, 16 of those being solo tackles. He showed his ability to be disruptive by adding eight tackles-for-loss and a pair of sacks. Torbeson defended against four passes while forcing two fumbles and recovering three fumbles. Offensively, Torbeson had three receptions for 22 yards. He also has experience with kickoffs and placekicking.
