Two-way players aren’t as common for some of the bigger schools, while smaller schools have to depend on playmaking two-way players throughout the season. It may be rare, but we still see fantastic players make plays on both sides of the ball.
Here are some of the best two-way players across Georgia in the 2024 class…
Sammy Brown Sammy Brown 6'2" | 225 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2024 State GA – LB-RB – Jefferson
One of the top 2024 prospects across the country, Brown is a multi-sport star who was on his way to a historic season last year before suffering a season-ending injury. The 6-foot-2 215-pounds dominated at both running back and linebacker last season, showing his speed, toughness, and versatility. He runs extremely well for his size and doesn’t shy away from contact. He has great vision and the ability to break tackles as a runner, and he’s an excellent downhill defender who knows how to get into the backfield. He’s a game-changer on both sides of the ball, and it’s led to an early 5-star ranking in his class. There isn’t much he can’t do on the field, and he’ll be expected to have a more increased role as a junior this fall.
Jojo Stone – WR/DB- Grayson
One of the best players on a loaded Grayson roster, Stone is an elite athlete who was dynamic with the ball in his hands last season as a sophomore. The 5-foot-11 180-pounder will likely play defensive back at the next level, but he can play DB, WR, RB and QB if needed. Even as a sophomore, Stone had a BIG impact for the Rams this fall. He has five-star potential and could be one of the highest-ranked athletes in the country for the 2024 class. He shows good ball skills, great burst with the ball, and the ability to create separation at a receiver. He can also take the ball out of the backfield, from the slot, or on the outside. His speed and explosiveness make him a threat to score every time he has the ball, so he needs to get the ball in multiple ways. Defensively, Stone could be one of the top cover corners across the state for the 2024 class. His athleticism, quickness, and ball skills make it tough to get open against him. He can be a lockdown defensive back at the next level, but he can make plays with the ball in his hands when given an opportunity.
KJ Bolden KJ Bolden 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Buford | 2024 State GA – WR/DB – Buford
One of the nation’s top prospects in the 2024 class, Bolden is an explosive playmaker who can make plays on both sides of the ball, both at receiver, and as a defensive back. He may just be a sophomore, but the Buford star proved to be one of the biggest playmakers in the region. He was one of the top athletes on the state-championship Buford squad and colleges have already taken notice of the 6-foot-2 180-pounder. He has the size, athleticism, and ball skills to continue rising in the 2024 rankings. He’s a smooth route runner, can create separation on his own, and has a 2nd gear when he has the ball in space. Defensively, he closes well when the ball is in the air and does a great job of breaking passes up. His size, quickness, and length make it hard for receivers to make plays when he’s in the area. He plays at a different level, and it’s led to an early 5-star ranking in the 2024 class.
Jalewis Solomon- Schley County
A dynamic two-way athlete from small-town Schley County, Solomon is a South Georgia playmaker who totaled 989 receiving yards last year, making him the 2nd in total receiving yards in his class. The small-town player is a big-play waiting to happen at wideout with his 61 catches and 13 touchdowns. He’s incredible quick, agile, and changes directions with ease. Defensively, the 6-foot-1 180-pounder has been a lockdown defensive tack, making 22 total tackles and picking off five passes last fall. He shows great instincts, and when the ball is in the air, he’s coming down with it. Solomon is one of the more productive two-way players in the state, making him one of the top overall athletes in his class.
