In today’s wide-open passing style, offenses are throwing the ball more and more, and if you can’t pressure the QB, you’re likely to get carves up all night long. Colleges need pass rushers, and there are some impressive 2024 pass rushers who are standing out across the peach state.
Here are some of the top pass rushers in Georgia for the 2024 class..
King Joseph Edwards – EDGE – Buford
One of the hottest overall prospects in Georgia right now, the Buford sophomore dominated at last month’s Atlanta Under Armour Camp where he showed off his elite pass-rush. He’s lightning quick off the ball and uses his hands well to get off blocks. He can beat opposing linemen with speed, power, and his natural athleticism. He can go outside and work back in, and he can shoot the gaps inside to quickly get to the quarterback. He’s young, but he’s recently earned some big offers, including one from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs.
Kamren Reese – Stockbridge
South of Atlanta in the small town of Stockbridge is where you’ll find one of the top sophomore pass rushers in the state. The 2024 defender was dominant off the edge at times due to his initial burst and speed off the line. He uses his hands to get off blocks and had a natural ability to get to the passer. He made 12 sacks on the season which was one of the best in the meto-Atlanta region. He knows how to fight through a double team, he can help collapse the pocket, and does a great job of not letting the quarterback escape the pocket. He has long arms which help him to get off blocks, and he knows how to deliver a big hit when he meets the ball-carrier. He was productive all season long, and he’s one of the best in the Georgia across the 2024 class when it comes to getting to the QB.
TA Cunningham – DE – Johns Creek
He may not have lit up the stat sheet last year, but make no mistake, as a sophomore, Cunningham has made 51 total tackles, 13 TFLs, and three sacks. He has an ideal frame for a young defensive lineman at 6-foot-5 260-pounds with natural athleticism that allows him to dominate older players. He’s got long arms, making him so tough to block for opposing linemen. He’s a force on the edge who can collapse an entire side of the line. The Johns Creek standout was impressive at the Atlanta Under Armour camp back in March, and showed quickness off the line. He holds early offers from Texas, Georgia, Auburn, among others.
Eric Brantley, Jr – Valdosta
One of the most productive 2024 defenders in all of South Georgia, the Valdosta defensive tackle had a dominant sophomore season last fall as he terrorized QBs and RBs on a weekly basis. An absolute wrecking ball last fall, Brantley Jr was in the backfield all season long, making 66 total tackles and 40 TFLs as a sophomore. He’s not a giant at 6-foot-2 250-pounds, but he’s lightning quick off the ball and can blow up any particular play. He’s a natural when getting off blocks and knows how to deliver a big hit when he gets to the ball carrier. He’s been as productive as it gets and he’s doing it as a sophomore. He was unstoppable this year and found the QB 11 times. Look for him to continue dominating offensive linemen for the next two years.
