Our 2024 class is loaded... especially when it comes to theTop 5 defensive backs in our 2024 Rankings! &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="132050" first="Jaylen" last="Mbakwe"]- </strong>|5’11 170| |Clay-Chalkville|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="132050" first="Jaylen" last="Mbakwe"] has quickly developed into a national recruit one of the best defensive backs in the entire 2024 class, and it doesn’t look like that is going to stop anytime soon. Mbakwe has elite speed and coverage skills- both of which have made him a true lockdown corner. Mbakwe uses those two qualities to torture offenses-the way he flies around the field to make plays is crazy. With Mbakwe, nothing is out of the question, he can truly do it all. Against the pass, Mbakwe uses his hands to break up and intercept passes, and against the run, Mbakwe doesn't shy from contact and makes some great tackles. Of course, Mbakwe’s play has not gone unnoticed, top collegiate programs across the nation like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and many more have sent out offers to him, and there will definitely be more heading his way. &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="132044" first="A’mon" last="Lane"]- </strong>|5’11 175| |Moody|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="132044" first="A’mon" last="Lane"] had an explosive season for Thompson last fall, establishing himself as one of the top 2024 defensive back prospects in the state and country as well. Lane was a member of the star-filled Thompson secondary last fall, and he dominated with the rest of them. Lane plays extremely physical, quite often on film he's seen jamming receivers off of the line, blasting through blocks to make tackles, and routinely making life difficult on the ball carrier. In addition to his physicality on defense, Lane also holds a ton of value as a member of their special teams- he routinely makes plays downfield as a gunner that changes the field for his team's offense. Lane, another national recruit, has received offers from the likes of Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, and more. With him recently transferring from Thompson to Moody, expect to see him maintain the same dominance he has already presented on the field. &nbsp; <strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="282020" first="Travaris" last="Banks"]-</span></strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> |6’2 180| |Northridge|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="282020" first="Travaris" last="Banks"] has had a quiet, but dominant career at Northridge and teams/schools  are finally starting to recognize his ability. Banks is a terrific athlete that has played and produced at running back, wide receiver, kick returner, and defensive back. Banks has been able to thrive at defensive back the most due to his insane speed paired with his size. He uses his size to his advantage by consistently using his long arms to break up and intercept passes, and his speed is found just everywhere in his game. His acceleration helps him a ton in coverage when closing in/keeping up with receivers. Recently, Banks has been heating up in the recruiting world, with Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, and Mississippi State all sending offers to him within the last few months. &nbsp; <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="132045" first="Jayden" last="Lewis"]- </strong>|6’0 180| |Anniston|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="132045" first="Jayden" last="Lewis"] is a super talented prospect that is set up for a great season ahead of him. Lewis is one of the members of an incredibly talented defense at Anniston, and in his time there he has only gotten better and better. Lewis has great size, technique, and athleticism that has allowed him to contribute in a variety of ways both on defense and as a special teams returner. Lewis is super twitchy which helps in both those areas- he doesnt let receivers beat him and he can out juke and outrun an entire field as a return man. Lewis currently lists offers from Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee, and more- be sure to watch his junior season because him and Anniston’s defense should both be a blast to watch. &nbsp; <strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="132042" first="Jayden" last="Coleman"]- </span></strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">|5’11 175| |Central|</span> [player_tooltip player_id="132042" first="Jayden" last="Coleman"] has been electric throughout his time at Central, consistently making huge plays on defense. Coleman has quick eyes, vision, and can create turnovers with ease. He has a way of seeing the field that allows him to quickly adjust and react to the ball, resulting in a ton of game-changing plays being made by him. Coleman also serves as a very reliable tackler, he wraps up well and is strong enough to not let many by.  Coleman has received a lot of collegiate attention, receiving offers from schools like Arkansas, Penn State, Kentucky, and more.
