During these winter months, we take a lot of time to reflect on this past season and look forward to next season, which includes staying up to date on Michigan High School Football. After last week’s extravaganza of huge signees, commitments, coach hirings, etc., we have a bit of a lighter news week this week. Today I’ll give a quick rundown on the biggest news of the week.
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>West Catholic Hires Landon Grove as their next Head Coach</strong></span>
One of the most storied programs in the state has made an enormous move, hiring Landon Grove away from Gibraltar Carlson. Grove spent one season with Carlson, leading them to a 9-2 record with a share of the Downriver League Title. Last season, Carlson defeated many great teams, including Woodhaven, Lakeland, with a playoff victory against Trenton. It’s an exciting change for West Catholic as they look to contend for State Championships once again.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="188032" first="Eric" last="Christoff"] finalizes transfer to De La Salle</span></strong>
The #38 ranked player in our 2024 class has finalized his transfer to De La Salle from Avondale. Christoff is a twitchy athlete with a great work ethic, making this a great addition to the already stacked Pilot offense. It will be fascinating to see how Christoff is utilized in the De La Salle offense and if this move will ultimately help or hurt his college recruitment.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Dominant Unity Christian Duo Cameron and Drew Chandler won’t pursue collegiate football career </span></strong>
As reported by freelance reporter Lenny Padilla, Cameron and Drew Chandler won’t be pursuing collegiate football. This duo broke records for Unity Christian during their dominant journey to the State Championship game. They will both be studying entrepreneurship at Grand Canyon University. The Legacy 7 on 7 league rolls through the second weekend, as many athletes continue to stand out. I, unfortunately, have not been able to attend the games, though other publications such as The D Zone continue their great work there. I hope to attend sometime during the next few weeks!
