These 5-A District rivals have deep roots. Once teammates, to district rivals and now back to teammates again. Collins and Beale were once baseball teammates for the Baton Rouge based team, Varsity Baseball team where they won the USSSA 12U Majors Baseball Championship. Fast forward a few years they are district rivals and months after the seasons end they’re back as teammates again playing 7on7 with F3 Elite. Funny how time changes and things change but with these two young men the constant has been sports and sports once again have brought them together.

Woodlawn’s Rickie Collins Rickie Collins 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) | 2023 State LA won the Triple Crown for his season football honors. He was selected All-District (Offensive MVP), All-Metro and All-State. Collins passed for 1900 yards, 16 TD’s and added 3 rushing TD’s as well. The 4 Star Purdue commit has off the chart quarterback ability and is a generational arm talent. The senior to be quarterback is smart, savvy and possesses the perfect amount of moxie and grace that’s needed to play that position. But humbly he always gives thanks his teammates and coaches first before acknowledging anything of himself. This small act of selflessness goes a long way in the locker and field of play. The Panthers signal caller was essential to his team’s success on and off the field. Collins lead the panthers to their first district championship in ten (10) years and while doing so he help to spark the interest of the community and the specific interest of loads former panthers who would be recognized immediately with their letterman jackets gleaming of school pride and old gridiron stories. Panthers football pride is back and the stadium at Woodlawn will be rocking with Collins leading the charge for one of the area’s most talented team for the 2022 season.

Catholic’s Daniel Beale Daniel Beale 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2024 State LA was a key component to the Bears success during the 2021 campaign. But when speaking to him his message is about the team and nothing about himself. The sophomore quarterback threw for 2,000 yards and 17 TD’s and was awarded 2nd Team All-District honors. Beale stated that 2021 season was an overall success. The ending the season as Division I State Champs. That’s a lot to say because the Bears played a very rough schedule including a team from Washington DC and Beale add that that success came from the player and coaches building relationships during the off season which was especially important due to the fact that the coaching staff was new. Beale credits his success to his teammates and humbly emphasizes that he did what was needed in order to help his team be successful. He also added that “Team and brotherhood is everything in our program. Everything we do is for the person to the right and left of us and we will never give up.” And being an underclassman it’s his job also to sacrifice for his senior teammates. As an underclassman, I also feel the need to give everything I have for the seniors because it is their last season playing high school football.
Both quarterbacks had games where they were in the zone and played outside of themselves. Beale had a game where he broke the single game passing yard record and also recorded four (4) TD’s in the process and Collins had a game where he threw for over 450 yards and seven (7) TD’s. Not only are these young men very good quarterbacks and dual/multi-sport athletes, but more impressively is that they are also exceptional students as well. Both Collins and Beale carry 3.6 plus GPA’s while continuing to keep pace with the grind and demand of performing at a high level at the highest football level of the state.
