Rankings Breakdown: 2023 RB’s

The 2023 class has potential to be the best offensive class to come thru the state of Mississippi in quite some time. 2022 top RB <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/branson-robinson/">[player_tooltip player_id="104151" first="Branson" last="Robinson"]</a> was an elite talent and will be at the University of Georgia come next season, leaving these guys to lead the running back room moving forward. For the time being <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/ty-jones/">[player_tooltip player_id="106162" first="Ty" last="Jones"]</a> has a firm grip on the top running back ranking in the state. Elite athleticism and vision is evident with the Mississippi State Commit. Jones plays in a proven winning program at Bay Springs. Potential to be dynamic as a pass catcher makes him seem like a natural fit in the Bulldog's air raid attack. Speaking of proven winning programs, <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/dmariun-perteet/">D&amp;#8217;Mariun Perteet</a> of South Panola, comes in at number 2 in our update. Perteet is a north/south runner with a great power streak. The rising senior back projects as an everydown back that best fits into a traditional between the tackles run game. Perteet currently holds an SEC offer from Arkansas. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jarvis-durr/">[player_tooltip player_id="108964" first="Jarvis" last="Durr"]</a> is coming off a huge junior season at Brandon and may be the best running back in the open space in the state. Verified sub 4.6 40 times are a for sure aarow in the quiver of Durr's game. Shiftiness combined with next level vision pop on tape. Size doesn't wow but is serviceable. Will arrive on a college campus game ready from both production and build standpoints. Raking in Group of 5 level offers currently with potential Power 5 upside. A guy that has been partially slept on is Ole Miss legacy <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/charleston-french/">[player_tooltip player_id="108968" first="Charleston" last="French"]</a> at Amory. There may not be a better prospect inside the 5 yard line in the state than French. Power back with thick, stout build that wins thru contact. Type of guy that likes to run thru someone as much as around them. Body strength is his best asset. Power 5 interest is rolling in and is much deserved. French is a Top 20 overall prospect in the state currently for 2023. One of the hottest names in the state currently is at Picayune in <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/dante-dowdell/">[player_tooltip player_id="108971" first="Dante" last="Dowdell"]</a>. The month of February alone has seen offers from Auburn, Oregon, Boston College and Florida State. Dowdell may have the best build of any back in the state at 6"2 210ish. Straight line speed isn't chart topping but is winnable and is lifted by his ability to make tacklers miss. Shifty in open field which is benefited by his eyes which seem to consistently be able to look to the next level. Looks a bit stiff with the ball but as he limbers up his game will improve.
