New to the Rankings Class of 2023: QB

In the past couple of weeks, there were several talented players added to the Prep Redzone Rankings for the class of 2023. Here are five QB that were new to the list. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="92616" first="Tayden" last="Carpenter"]</strong>, 6’0, 200, Ironton [player_tooltip player_id="92616" first="Tayden" last="Carpenter"] is the 11th ranked QB and the 106th ranked player overall in the class of 2023. His outstanding play as a Junior in 2021 helped lead the Ironton Fighting Tigers to an 11-2 record, advance to the 3rd round of the playoffs and average 33.3 points per game. He displays a quick, smooth release with very good arm strength as he shows the ability to make all of the throws and is able to pass the ball over 40 yards on a rope on a deep ball. Shows very good accuracy and touch as he places the ball on the correct shoulder of the receiver which maximizes yards after the catch. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="274381" first="Griffin" last="Scalf"]</strong>, 6’3, 200, Anderson [player_tooltip player_id="274381" first="Griffin" last="Scalf"] is the 19th ranked QB in the class of 2023 and he is currently on the Prep Redzone watchlist. His very good play as a Junior in 2021 helped lead the Anderson Raptors to a 7-3 season, advance to the 3rd round of the playoffs and average 38.2 points per game. He shows very good poise in the pocket as he keeps his eyes downfield, steps up in the pocket and makes an accurate throw with multiple defenders in his face. Displays good athletic ability as he is able to evade defenders with good play speed. Possesses a very strong arm as he can make all of the throws and passes the deep ball with very good touch. Although he is primarily a pocket passer, he does show good mobility and is able to pick up yards on his own when he needs to. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="274383" first="Ty" last="Hurst"]</strong>, 6’2, 170, Tallmadge [player_tooltip player_id="274383" first="Ty" last="Hurst"] is the 20th ranked QB in the class of 2023 and he is currently on the Prep Redzone watchlist. His great play as a Junior in 2021 helped lead the Tallmadge Blue Devils to a 7-4 record and average 31.8 points per game. He does a good job of seeing the entire field while dropping back as he makes multiple reads and displays very good arm strength as he throws deep and intermediate passes with very good velocity as well as great touch. He displays very good accuracy as he is able to throw receivers open.  He uses his good athletic ability to outrun LB as he picks up a first down while scrambling. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="274385" first="Hayden" last="Wickard"]</strong>, 6’3, 175, Elmwood [player_tooltip player_id="274385" first="Hayden" last="Wickard"] is the 21st ranked QB in the class of 2023 and he is currently on the Prep Redzone watchlist. His excellent play as a Junior in 2021 helped lead the Elmwood Royals to a 10-2 record, advance to the 3rd round of the playoffs and average an impressive 43.6 points per game. He displays very good football intelligence as he quickly reads the defense. Displays great accuracy as he puts the ball in a spot where only the receiver can catch it.  He is able to deliver an accurate ball while on the move as he rolls out. He shows very good athletic ability and play speed as he is able to outrun all defenders for a long touchdown run. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="284310" first="Jon" last="Speiss"]</strong>, 5’10, 170, Bexley [player_tooltip player_id="284310" first="Jon" last="Speiss"] is the 22nd ranked QB in the class of 2023 and he is currently on the Prep Redzone Watchlist. In 2021, his play was a bright spot in the 3-7 season of the Bexley Lions. He shows good elusiveness in the pocket as he keeps his eyes downfield while evading a defender and delivers an accurate throw on short, intermediate and deep passes. Shows good athletic ability as he rolls out and delivers an accurate ball while on the move. He uses his good play speed to outrun DB as he picks up significant yardage while scrambling. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
