This list contains 7 quarterbacks in the DFW area that have caught my eye one way or another while watching film over this past season. Each one of these prospects I have high confidence in to come in and produce in their divisions next season.

Wyatt Smith 6’ 170lbs Pilot Point

An excellent quarterback under pressure, Wyatt is able to keep his composure and find his open reciever effectively and consistently without panic. 261 attempts accumulated for 2,437 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2021, a productive junior year that he is looking to exceed as a senior. Wyatt is an improvising quarterback behind the line of scrimmage, I’ve seen him many times scramble out of trouble while checking each option, looking for the open guy. Wyatt Smith is extremely accurate on deep tight window throws with an arm to get the ball down field while feeling pressure in the pocket.

Clifton Cooper 6’1" 160lbs Ponder

Cooper has some on the most tight window throws on this list, he is able to zip throws between zone coverages, right where his receiver can get it! He seems very comfortable versus man blitzes, finding his best matchup and getting the ball out quickly. Cooper had an efficient year conducting the Ponder offense, putting up 2,535 yards passing and 24 touchdowns on 321 attempts as a junior. I expect Clifton Cooper to turn heads his senior season!

Weston Smith 6’5" 225lbs Colleyville Heritage

Weston Smith has unbelievable accuracy on the deep ball, he can really sling it! Throwing for 2,608 yards and 29 touchdowns on 324 attempts as a junior, Weston Smith lead his team to a 12-2 record. He has good throwing mechanics and form, sets his feet, and launches the ball with tremendous follow through! Smith has amazing size and surprising athleticism that gets him out of trouble when the pocket breaks down and he needs to go! With his senior season just around the corner, Weston Smith will have many offers come 2023!

[player_tooltip player_id="121948" first="Keldric" last="Luster"] 5’11" 203lbs Frisco Liberty

Luster is an exciting quarterback to watch play his game. With 51 total touchdowns, 30 through the air, Luster is an absolute weapon! Throwing for 3,435 yards on 356 attempts and 1,478 yards on the ground, he can beat you in a number of different ways and would be a very difficult guy to plan for! Great awareness and decision making, picking apart zone coverage and is more than willing to make big throws down the field if the opportunity is there! With taking his team to a 10-2 record his junior year, I feel high confidence for Luster to run it back like a routine and see alot of big time offers come his way!

Logan Cundiff 6’1" Fossil Ridge

Logan’s footwork in the pocket is outstanding! An evasive quarterback that’s hard to bring down behind the line of scrimmage! Is calm under pressure, can make you pay with his arm or legs. Cundiff can find his way out of a group of defenders, keep his eyes downfield and make the throw more often for it to be just coincidence. This is an athletic quarterback that brings alot of toughness and elusiveness to the position and it really shows on film. Logan Cundiff finished his sophomore season with 1,440 passing yards on 185 attempts and 14 total touchdowns with 10 through the air. Cundiff is the only sophomore on this list but I see potential in this kid so I had to put him on, his next 2 seasons are going to be exciting to watch!

[player_tooltip player_id="60839" first="Nathan" last="Greek"] 6’5" 228lbs QB Ferris

Greek has great stature at the quarterback position, a big guy with a strong arm and highly competitive on the football field! Greek only started 6 games his junior season for Ferris and threw for 1,517 yards and 16 touchdowns on 167 attempts. To go along with 4 more touchdowns on the ground, showing alot of potential to work with next season! Greek will be a find for any team and should collect some nice offers with a full season of football on his film.

Jake Wilson 6’2" 196lbs QB Byron Nelson

Jake Wilson is a polished, mature quarterback with good size, athleticism and a rocket launching arm! Each throw is routinely on the money, inside or outside the numbers, throws that need to be quick or deep routes that take time to develop downfield. You can really tell he spends alot of time with his recievers when the football is so well placed. Putting up 3,916 passing yards and 39 touchdowns on 435 attempts earned Jake Wilson the 4-6A Offensive player of the year. Wilson is fun to watch when facing man coverage, he will find his best mixed-matched deep route with either of his 2 talented recievers and pick up an easy 30-40 yards. With both of them coming back for their senior season, I expect Jake Wilson to be slinging it all over the field next season and receive plenty of D1 offers.
