One of the top overall prospects across the country for the 2023 class, Caleb Downs Caleb Downs 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA is a dynamic, playmaking defender who can truly change the game on any particular play. He’s long, rangy safety has tremendous ball skills who can also turn around and help on offense. He’s put together well at 6-foot-0 185-pounds and has great instincts for the position. He can run down defenders with ease, but when the ball is in the air, Downs is going to go get it. He already looks like an SEC defender from a physical standpoint and has the film to back up why he holds so many major offers. The Mill Creek star has made 77 tackles last fall and intercepted five passes on defense. He’s a coach on the field, a leader in the locker room, and a top target for major college programs across the country. It’s easy to see why he’s one of the best players not only in Georgia, but in the country for the 2023 class.
Hayden Clark – QB
A multi-year starter at QB, Clark is coming off an efficient junior season for Mill Creek and helped lead the Hawks deep into the playoffs. He’s been accurate with the ball in his career and had had to go up against some extremely talented defenses. He’s been smart, efficient, and will occasionally sling the ball downfield for a big game. Mill Creek’s offense was tough to stop last fall and Clark was a big reason why. He threw for over 2,00 yards and just under 20 TDs last fall, and he’s expected to have another big season as a senior. He’s smart with the football, shows toughness, and will have plenty of weapons to throw too on the outside. He’s absolutely a Gwinnett County QB to know about in 2022.
Jamal Anderson – OLB
A Gwinnett County linebacker who continues to see offers come his way is the 2023 pass rusher out of Mill Creek. The junior is seeing his stock rise after a big 2021 season where he made 78 tackles, 7 TFLs, and four sacks. The son of former NFL running back Jamal Anderson, the younger Anderson stands at 6-foot-4 190-pounds with room to add more weight and mass. The rising senior also intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble, and forced another. He’s athletic, he moves really well, and easily shows D1 talent. He made a big impact on a 7A defense and will hope to push Mill Creek towards a championship this fall. He holds offers from Michigan State, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Miami, UCF, Virginia, among others.
Brendan Jenkins – WR
One of the more underrated WRs in the region, Jenkins was out to prove himself last fall as a junior. The two-sport star has good size and showed tremendous ball skills throughout the season. The son of former NFL wide receiver Michael Jenkins, the younger Jenkins made it look easy at times, showing big-play ability throughout the year. He has reliable hands, can create separation, and ended the 2021 season with 31 receptions for 525 yards and 8 touchdowns. He went up against some tough defensive backs in Gwinnett County all season, and will have high expectations on him as a senior later this fall.
Aidan Banfield – OL
An under the radar offensive lineman to know, Banfield had a great sophomore season last year, showing strength and versatility throughout the season. He has great size at 6-foot-4 285-pounds and was dominant in the run game last fall. He finishes blocks well and does a nice job of driving his opponents backwards. He can play multiple positions on the line and will likely end up at guard down the line. He’s tough, shows solid footwork, and could see some offers come his way sooner than later.
