Continue ReadingCarrollton High School, which has been known to have produced a fair amount of talent in the past, is expected by many fans of high school football to potentially have a chance of competing for a state championship, or at least make a run at the playoffs, when the 2022 season comes around. While the Trojans have a large amount of young talent on the team that will have to step up, they also have tested players, and prospects who have taken their fair amount of snaps to prepare them for this kind of opportunity. Below, take some time to look into some of the players in which we look forward to seeing become a big part of Carrollton’s program next season.
Jordan Cardentey- OL
While the Trojans fell a few games short of their playoff, and championship run last year, plenty of fans think that they have a good chance of returning next year, with a chance to make a run at winning it all. While the team has plenty of up-and-coming talent, there are also plenty of staples of the team that will be returning. A big part of the Trojan’s offense that will be making a return next season includes that of Jordan Cardentey. Cardentey was a big part of the team’s offensive line last year, and will prove to be a key piece of the puzzle, as he will likely help pave the way for players like Bryce Hicks to have success on the ground. Cardentey will also prove to be a huge part of any success in the passing game, as he has proven to have success in both the pass, and running game. Next season, we will look to see him capitalize on his 6’1, 290 pound frame, and to be able to improve in the way he moves his feet, and picks up blocks with athleticism.
Bryce Hicks- RB
Last season, as a young player, Hicks was the feature back for his team, and managed to have plenty of success in doing so. He not only helped to shoulders some of the burden for the offense, but on his back alone, he accounted for 13 of his team’s TD’s. To be exact, this happened to be the most TD’s scored by any player on his team last year. The amount of yards that Hicks totaled on the ground also reflected this level of success, as he rushed for over 860 yards on 114 carries. This put him at an average of around 72 yards a game, with about 7.6 yards a carry. In addition to this, Hicks also had a bout 4, 100 yards games, which was a key part of his offense’s success. Going into 2022, look for Hicks to continue to carry a big load for his team, especially depending on whoever lines up under center for the Trojans.
Takare Lipscomb- WR
Lipscomb will be returning for his senior year in 2022, and will likely be a big part of any success that the Trojans have in the air. For starters, he was one of the leading receivers last season, and is the only returning receiver from last year who totaled over 700 yards. To be specific, Lipscomb totaled 727 yards receiving last year, and averaged about 16.2 yards a catch. With this being said, these averages also contributed to a game average of 51.9 yards a game. By the time the 2021 season ended, Lipscomb had proven to be a valuable asset for his team, as he was tied for second on the team in most receiving TD’s as well, with 7 TD’s.
Kiyun Cofer- WR
Even though Cofer may not be known to many, he will be a Sophomore next season for the Trojans, and we fully expect him to be able to step into a receiving role, even if it is limited snaps for the offense, in which he can be a main contributor to any QB, who may potentially be young, that could step up for the team. Cofer, who is about 6’0, 170 pounds, has a bit of growing to do within his frame, but we like his ability to be able to high point the ball, track it with his eyes, and make catches from very unorthodox angles. With this, we like his growth potential, small bit of twitch, and ability to stack defenders. If he can continue to work on each of these things in the offseason, as well as his ability to separate, we expect him to have a big year for his team next year.
