The state indoor track championships were taking place in Fayetteville and the Houston Pylon 7-on-7 tournament was going on in the Lone Star State. Many Prep RedZone Arkansas athletes were busy displaying talent on the track and the football field this weekend. We are going to take a look at some athletes that had strong performances over the weekend.
Ta’Jon Sparks Ta’Jon Sparks 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Springdale | 2023 State AR -Athlete-Springdale-2023
The Springdale Bulldog was able to display his excellent speed at the indoor state championships over the weekend. Sparks has excellent speed on and off the football field. He is ranked sixth in the state of Arkansas. Last week he ran a time of 7.2 seconds in the 60m. The young man is a great athlete, and he is just getting going this offseason. Look out for Sparks as the 2022 football season approaches. Congratulations on the strong showing go out to Ta’Jon.
Isaiah Sategna Isaiah Sategna 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Fayetteville | 2022 State AR -Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022
The future Arkansas Razorback put on an excellent performance at the state indoor track championships. Over the course of the weekend Sategna became a 15-time state individual champion in track and field events. Sategna won the long jump, 60m, 200m, 60m hurdles, and helped the Fayetteville Bulldogs win a state team title. Sategna has been one of the most explosive wide receivers in the state of Arkansas and he has the potential to do big things on the field and on the track for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the fall.
Da’Shawn Chairs Da’Shawn Chairs 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Elkins | 2024 State AR -Running Back-Elkins-2024
The Elks have a running back that is one of the most explosive players in the 3-A Conference. Chairs exploded on to the scene this football season and he has kept a strong 2021-22 season going with his performance on the football field. Chairs picked up some hardware in the state 3-A 60m dash. Chairs earned the state championship, and he is just getting started with his offseason performance. Look for Chairs to have a strong 2022 football season.
Dax Goff Dax Goff 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Booneville | 2024 State AR -Linebacker-Booneville-2024
Should folks have questions about Goff’s athleticism, we can simply point to his performance over the weekend. The Booneville linebacker won state championships in both the triple and the long jumps in his classification. Goff is one of the most explosive linebackers in the class of 2024 and he has incredible potential on and off the football field. The team that lands Goff over the next few years is getting a prospect that can terrorize opposing offenses for years to come.
Shawn Rycraw Shawn Rycraw 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Bryant | 2024 State AR -Athlete-Central Arkansas Christian-2024
In Houston, over the weekend Rycraw terrorized opposing defensive backs at the Houston Pylon 7-on-7 tournament. Rycraw found the end zone numerous times and put on display his impressive speed in the process. He is another prospect in the state of Arkansas that can light up on both sides of the field. Rycraw is setting the stage for a big 2022 season, and he is one prospect that I expect to blow up this season.
Justin Crutchmer Justin Crutchmer 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Lake Hamilton | 2023 State AR -Athlete-Lake Hamilton-2023
Based on the film from Houston, defensive backs are likely going to have a tough time covering Crutchmer this season. Crutchmer runs extremely crisp routes and does an excellent job of creating separation in the process. The Lake Hamilton athlete is going to be a threat to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. Crutchmer is going to be name that scouts are going to want to pay attention as the 2022 football season approaches.
Malachi Graham Malachi Graham 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Bryant | 2023 State AR -Defensive Back-Bryant-2023
The Bryant defensive back has put on display his impressive coverage skills over the weekend. Graham is rarely caught out of position and does a great job of batting the ball away or picking off the pass. The Bryant secondary is going to be difficult for opposing quarterbacks to contend with and I look for a big season from Malachi Graham Malachi Graham 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Bryant | 2023 State AR this season. Graham is already off to a strong start in the offseason, and I look for that momentum to continue!
