The 2021 football season ended with a state championship for the Bryant Hornets. Over the past few years, the Hornets have formed a dynasty in the state of Arkansas. The Hornets have kept a steady stream of talented players and prospects advancing in the playoffs and winning championships. We are going to take a look back at the 2021 season and look ahead to the 2022 season.
Looking first, at the offensive side of the ball. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="214915" first="Carson" last="Burnett"] threw for 2,083 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. Burnett is a quarterback that was extremely efficient in leading the Hornets to a 7-State Championship. He is a quarterback that did a great job of throwing while scrambling and had excellent pocket awareness. Sophomore quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="149591" first="Gideon" last="Motes"] and Tyler Pinney will have the opportunity to earn some snaps.
The Bryant rushing attack is one of the most impressive in the state of Arkansas. Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id="152083" first="Chris" last="Gannaway"] had an excellent season in 2021. He is one of those running backs that can rush between the tackles or cut the run to the outside. Gannaway has the potential to have a strong 2022 football season. Gannaway is going to be a player that can player on Saturdays in the future.
In the passing game, the wide receivers that the Hornets have are a talent group of wide receivers. Sophomore wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="166998" first="Mytorian" last="Singleton"] is a prospect that does an excellent job of stretching the field for the Hornets. Singleton racked up almost 1,000 yards last season and has the potential to have a strong season in 2022. The Bryant Hornets do a fantastic job of mixing the run with the pass and this has the potential to be a strong offense in 2022.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball the Hornets have one of the state’s best defenses. Junior defensive backs Miguel Graham and [player_tooltip player_id="236267" first="Malachi" last="Graham"] terrorize opposing offenses with an aggressive style of pass coverage. Both Grahams have no problem making a hard tackle. Each one has a nose for the football. Sophomore defensive end T.J. Lindsey is extremely disruptive to opposing offenses. Lindsey uses his 6’5” frame well to bat down passes and his ability to get into the offensive backfield is impressive. Folks can look for the Bryant Hornets to be just as talented in 2022 as they were in 2021.
Players to keep an eye on in 2022 for the Bryant Hornets.
