There is so much young talent at the receiver position in Maryland that dedicating an entire article to the topic is only logical. All of these players have Division I potential, and they’re all in prime positions to have huge seasons in 2022. Now, let’s take a closer look at each receiver individually. 2024 6’4 190 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="172212" first="Elijah" last="Moore"] – Good Counsel I am about as confident as it gets when I say that [player_tooltip player_id="172212" first="Elijah" last="Moore"] is the best underclassman receiver in the state at the moment. His size really stands out when you watch him play, especially in blocking situations. Moore is as effective a blocker as he is a receiver, and that’s a big reason why his game will translate perfectly at the D1 level. As a receiver, [player_tooltip player_id="172212" first="Elijah" last="Moore"] was Good Counsel’s safety blanket and go-to guy this season. Even with multiple quarterbacks throughout the season, Moore still put up huge numbers and seemingly never dropped a ball thrown his way. His physicality really showed itself in the red-zone where he is a dominant force, and he’s only going to get more comfortable there with experience. Moore already has power five conference offers from Virginia Tech, Cincinnati, and Kentucky, and he’s absolutely blossoming into one of the top overall receivers in the nation for the 2024 class. https://t.co/kjdI5MXDWZ 2024 6’1 175 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="260869" first="Dominic" last="Dorwart"] – St. Mary’s Ryken [player_tooltip player_id="260869" first="Dominic" last="Dorwart"] earned 2nd Team All-WCAC receiver honors this off-season. He possesses blazing speed, and he’s absolutely the fastest receiver on this list. Dorwart recorded a kickoff return touchdown this past season, which only added to his insanely high number of yards after the catch, and he did so for about 90 yards. He’s extremely elusive, and he’s able to make three tacklers miss as easily as he can one. Dorwart is also a very skilled route runner. He constantly demonstrates elite level footwork without the ball, and he’s often open in space as a result. Dorwart has a phenomenal relationship with his quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id="264047" first="Brenton" last="Toles"] III, and this dynamic duo will absolutely put up huge numbers in 2022 as a result. Division I scouts nationwide must know the name [player_tooltip player_id="260869" first="Dominic" last="Dorwart"]. https://t.co/Y78AayjASK 2024 5’9 160 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="264167" first="Santino" last="Sanchez"] – McDonogh If you’re looking for an extremely efficient slot receiver who can play a Julian Edelman type role for your squad then look no further than [player_tooltip player_id="264167" first="Santino" last="Sanchez"]. It’s ironic that Sanchez dawns the #11 on the field, because he plays the game with the same grit and style as ex-Patriot, and #11 wearer, Julian Edelman. Sanchez couldn’t be stopped by MIAA defenses this past season, and the reason is his high energy. He may not be the biggest or most physically gifted receiver, but there’s simply no substitute for heart and that’s exactly what [player_tooltip player_id="264167" first="Santino" last="Sanchez"] has to offer. He puts his body on the line every single play, and he’s willing to do anything to get the win for his teammates. It isn’t often that you encounter a receiver like [player_tooltip player_id="264167" first="Santino" last="Sanchez"], and, when you do, it’s important to recognize that hard work and dedication does pay off long term. Sanchez should absolutely be looked at as an elite D1 receiver prospect. https://t.co/S5iIIgliIm 2024 6’0 155 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="264201" first="Kharee" last="Wynn"] – Archbishop Carroll [player_tooltip player_id="264201" first="Kharee" last="Wynn"] showcased a lot of special talent during Carroll’s nearly undefeated season. Archbishop Carroll has extreme depth at the wide receiver position, but, even so, Wynn stood out as a receiver with one of the highest ceilings on the team. One reason for that is Wynn’s elite play on special teams as a return man. He was a constant threat to cross midfield on returns, and, time after time, he displayed high-level speed, vision, and elusiveness. If [player_tooltip player_id="264201" first="Kharee" last="Wynn"] continues to learn and develop as a receiver under Carroll’s upperclassmen receivers like [player_tooltip player_id="90669" first="Jamarr" last="Ebron"] and Nycholas Harbor, then there’s no reason why Wynn won’t be a top overall receiver in the conference his Senior season. Scouts should learn the name [player_tooltip player_id="264201" first="Kharee" last="Wynn"] now because he’s going to do big things in the seasons to come. https://www.hudl.com/profile/15250008/Kharee-Wynn 2024 5’8 160 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="260870" first="Oliver" last="Redd Jr"] – Calvert Hall Oliver “Hundo” Redd Jr had a breakout season in the Fall, winning an MIAA Championship, and he proved that he’s one of the most physical receivers in Maryland. He was one of [player_tooltip player_id="90649" first="Noah" last="Brannock"]’s top targets, especially on third down, and he simply has a knack for converting on big plays. As a receiver, he’s particularly effective when he lines up in the slot because he’s able to catch the ball while enduring a lot of punishment. His yards after contact are off the charts overall, and there’s simply no substitute for [player_tooltip player_id="260870" first="Oliver" last="Redd Jr"]’s ability to push the ball upfield. 2022 will absolutely bring more responsibility to Redd as a receiver, and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to thrive in the role with flying colors. [player_tooltip player_id="260870" first="Oliver" last="Redd Jr"] is a premier receiver in Maryland, and D1 scouts must have him on their radars. https://t.co/YiJJXNXUt7 2025 6’2 190 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="256942" first="Hunter" last="Solwold"] – Loyola Blakefield In the Freshman class, [player_tooltip player_id="256942" first="Hunter" last="Solwold"] is one of the most dynamic receivers in the state of Maryland, and his versatility is really going to pay off down the road if he chooses to pursue football long term. Solwold takes the majority of his snaps at receiver, but he can also line up at tight end. His large frame makes him an easy target in the middle of the field for his quarterback, and he’s nearly impossible to defend if he gets in solid position. Solwold has football in his blood, as his father is former NFL long snapper and Super Bowl champion Mike Solwold. Hunter has already made a name for himself without question, and it looks like 2022 will be his most dominant season yet. [player_tooltip player_id="256942" first="Hunter" last="Solwold"] is absolutely a division I level talent with a high ceiling, and scouts everywhere must keep an eye on him. https://t.co/uTyYhit9MW 2025 5’11 190 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="272351" first="Tristan" last="Waters"] – Dunbar As a Freshman, [player_tooltip player_id="272351" first="Tristan" last="Waters"] showcased dynamic playmaking ability and a propensity for scoring touchdowns. He also displayed high-level blocking prowess which is exceptionally rare amongst young receivers at this level. His touches will increase by a lot during the 2022 season, and he will absolutely be an integral part of Dunbar’s offensive scheme in the coming years. It’s only a matter of time before [player_tooltip player_id="272351" first="Tristan" last="Waters"] receives D1 power five conference offers. There’s no doubt in my mind. http://www.hudl.com/v/2GUxNk
